James wrapped his arms around Claudia’s waist, they were both drunk but she was a lot further gone than he was. Her hands were gripping the front of his jacket as he held her upright. She was trying to tell him something really serious, but she was just laughing too hard.

“No James!” she laughed resting her forehead against his chest. “I want to know, what genome are you possessing that your brother and dad have if they have green eyes.”

“That’s not a sentence.” He laughed as she snorted into his shirt. “Are you warm enough?”

“I’m fine.” She cooed wrapping one arm around his waist and cuddling up to his chest. “You’re warm and smoking?”

“I told you I’m going out for a tab.” He shrugged, reaching one arm over her head and he took a drag. “You didn’t have to come.”

“It doesn’t make it a night out until I wait outside with someone smoking.” She laughed, “Ellis used to smoke when we lived together; when I could smell smoke I knew she was in.”

“It’s a one off.” James stated, feeling guilty about the cigarette. “Only when I’m out.”

“I don’t give a shit.” She laughed, tilting her head up to look at him as they heard their friends pile out of the club behind them.

“Come on snuggles.” Fred called over; “We’ve got another two to go!”

James waved at his cousin who had decided upon the impromptu bar crawl through muggle London; it was a Friday after all. “We’re coming; Claudia’s drunker than you think.”

“So are you ash breath.” He laughed, sticking his fingers up at him as he walked backwards down the street.

“Come on Claud.” James laughed, moving to drop the cigarette only for Claudia to steal it from his fingers. “Smoking now are we?”

“I’m drunk; I’ll do anything.” She laughed, finishing the cigarette quickly and dropping it to the pavement as they walked arm in arm.

“That’s a death sentence.” he stated as Claudia shrugged and stumbled down the curb. “Merlin Claud!”

“Sorry.” She laughed, tears starting to pool in her eyes. “Oh James!”

Stopping as Claudia crumpled against him with laughter, James started to laugh as well. No one seemed to notice as they fell behind and out of sight. Claudia dropped to her bum as she leant against his leg.

“Claudie get up.” James sighed, bending down and scooping her against his chest as he pulled her to her feet. “Please come on.”

“I’ll get up for a kiss!” she shouted; “Anyone want a kiss?!”

James cursed as a few men glanced her way and looked ready to take the offer. Grabbing her chin, James quickly pressed his lips against hers in a kiss. Her hands reached up and her fingertips played gently against his jaw as she stood on her own. James wrapped his hands around her wrist as he pulled back and looked at her.

He’d expected her to be grinning still drunkenly at him, but her eyes were clear of the drunken haze as she stared back at him, her lips still moist from the kiss.

“Sorry.” He said, staring at her as she just stared back.

“I think I should go home.” She whispered, slipping out her heels and starting to head back towards the line of taxi’s outside the previous club.

“Claudia, let me take you home.” He said, darting after her and taking her arm firmly in his. “Please, you’re still rather drunk.”

“I made you kiss me like I was some fresher.” She snorted, hiding her face in shame. “I’m sorry James.”
