James folded his arms as he looked down at Paige, a small smile flickered over her lips as she mimicked his stance and looked up at him. “Daddy, I want to go to a castle.”

“We’ve already planned to go to the quidditch game with Aunt Lily.” James repeated for what felt like the millionth time. “We can go to a castle next weekend.”

“No Daddy, I don’t like quiddish.” She pouted, “I don’t want to go, it’s cold and boring.”

“You enjoyed it last time.” James sighed, resting his hands on his hips.

“I lied.” She shrugged, sticking her nose in the air. “We go to a castle or I have paddy.”

“How about quidditch today and then castle tomorrow.” He tried, letting out a deep breath as she weighed up the options. “You can stay with Uncle Al while I go to the quidditch.”

“No, I want you to stay.” She pouted, unfolding her arms and clinging to his legs as she whined. “Daddy, don’t go!”

James’s heart broke as she started to cry properly. This is when he wished he had someone else there, someone for Paige to attach to so she wasn’t so dependent on him. “Paige, Daddy’s got to go out without you sometimes.”

“You g-go work.” She sobbed, wiping her nose on the knee of his jeans. “I don’t go.”

“If I didn’t go work then I wouldn’t be able to pay for the house, or food, or any of your toys or clothes.” He sighed, pushing her dark hair away from her face as his resolve began to crumble. “Paige, stop crying now.”

“I don’t want you to leave me!” she sobbed anew as he gave in and scooped her into his arms, kissing her tear stained cheek. “Daddy, don’t leave me.”

“Home.” He sighed, throwing the floo powder into the fireplace.

“What now?” Lily sighed, pulling off her Harpies hat. “Paige?”

“She won’t come with us and look at her.” James sighed, twisting so his sister could see her red cheeks. “Lily, she’s my baby.”

“And mine too.” She shrugged, “Leave her here; she needs to get over it!”

“And if she grows up with abandonment issues I’m blaming you.” James snapped, pointing a finger at her. “Look at her!”

“If you’re not coming with me, then find someone else to come with me.” Lily snapped back pointing her own finger back at him. “Seriously James, I can’t go by myself!”

“Daddy stay with me.” Paige interjected.

“I’ll call Louis.”

“Yeah, call Louis he’s sure to answer.” She snorted; “You’re better off going over with the ticket.”

James glared at his sister as she held out his ticket, the ticket to the game he’d been looking forwards to for months… it was the final. “Fine, I’ll go. Paige wait here.”

“NO!” she screamed, clinging even tighter to his neck as Lily flinched at the nose.

“Take her with you.” Lily grunted, “She’s too noisy.”

James gave Lily one last glare before apparating to Louis’s flat and banging on the door. He rather liked Louis’s flat and was a little jealous that Louis could have a cool flat with angles and mezzanines, while he got a house with safety latches on the doors.

“James, what’s up?” His cousin grinned, pulling the door open and instantly opening his arms to Paige. “Hey sweetie!”

“Lou!” she cheered, launching free from James and kissing Louis’s cheek.
