Prologue

"For those who have always wanted to be free, the Chosen Ones will be your key."

I was born years after the Great War, many years after various tribes of the world stood up and united against the demons. Although the world that we now live in is very different from a world called Elyura, I would never forget the tales that my mother told me – tales about the heroes who fought on Elyura.

41 years ago, there were no wars in Elyura and everyone lived harmoniously together.

Things changed a year later after the Scarlet Night incident, which rendered the age of the world back to JX 0. After the world had learned that phoenix blood could grant immense power to those who drank copious amounts of it, many creatures vied for it. As a result, conflicts began.

The greatest warriors of the Xiqu Empire fought against tribes that were waging these wars. They were defeated by an emerging faction led by the Demons. Thereafter, demons began to sweep across Elyura, sacking and taking over cities wherever they went.

D. Sareus, the man who was thought to have changed the path of Elyura's history, was captured by the demons during the Scarlet Night incident. [1] Together with his secrets, D. Sareus went missing for many years. 20 years later, a man with the same name reappeared out of nowhere. This time, 'D. Sareus' became the leader of the demon faction, and he led the demons across Elyura to bay for Phoenix blood. However, retired warriors could not confirm whether this man was the same person who was captured during the war.

The most powerful magicians of my mother's time combined powers to defeat D. Sareus and his demon army. In the process, they created a separate world from Elyura, sealing them away.

In just 20 years' time, however, D. Sareus and his demons re-invaded Elyura and captured the last Phoenix. Having drank copious amounts of Phoenix blood, D. Sareus became immensely powerful and immortal. His army weakened the Xiqu empire by encouraging insurrections to take place and by assassinating the rulers of the empire. After the Great War which was waged in JX 20, D. Sareus and his army captured the capital of Xiqu. And that was the last stand of the battered Xiqu Empire.

Fearing an invasion of their lands, other empires vowed to destroy the remaining "demons." However, insurgencies soon occurred in these empires causing them to break away. The demons began to extend their control over these empires, trying to 'reset the history of Elyura' as they call it.

Our main story takes place 20 years later in Year JX 40.
