What he said truly surprised me, I would expect him to say he will help me, support me but not devote his life to me.

"You don't have to do that" I said.
"If what you say is true and you are here to save our lives that's the least I could do".

"I know about Izana ..... And how you got your scar" I was a bit hesitant about telling him about those topics since I know how much they affect him.

His unreadable gaze wavers a bit "I think it's better if we talk in my office".

On contrary of what happened with Mikey at first, Kakucho was way calmer he offered me a seat and quietly asked "were we close? In that other timeline?"

I nodded "you were the first one I got close to" memories from our first time I went to his house came flooding to my mind.

The first time I was comforted by him, the first time I felt at ease... The first time we kissed.

He let out a small chuckle "never in my whole life did I think that this could be possible".
I smiled "neither did I, but It still happened"

"So, what's the next step in your plan?"
"Finding Hanma, making sure he dies, we have a possible lead already but it's risky"
"How so?"
"We have contact with Hanma's right hand man, he is willing to give us info for money, but it's risky to trust him"

He nodded "I'll be with you"
"No, I won't put you in danger"
"So do I" he said.
I looked at him surprised "you won't?"

He smiled "is it that hard to believe?"
"No, it's just.... Why would you do that for me?"
"I might not know how we were in that other timeline but if you are welling to risk your life for me I won't be hesitant to do the same for you".

"You didn't change" I said.
"I'm glad" he offered me his hand "let's start over, I'm Kakucho Bonten's third in command"
I accepted his hand "Y/N L/N, Jōgawara's boss".

"Let's change the future together y/n".

"I told you everything, now what do you think?"

I didn't get to meet draken the other day when Mikey saw me so I decided to meet him today.

Draken thought for a while "this is way too risky but it's a good chance"
"I know!"
"I heard about that guy Hiroshi he used to be hitman, he never worked under anyone not until Hanma recruited him" Draken said.

I perked up "that's interesting, why did he decide to work for Hanma then?"
Draken shrugged "maybe more money, but that explains his willingness to help you".
"So I should take his offer?"
"Yep, but keep your guard up all the time, get ready to kill I'd anything happens" Draken said as he got back to fixing a motorcycle.
I nodded "will keep that mind" at least I have Mikey and Kakucho by my side now even though I don't want to get them involved that still counts.

That reminded me...

"He came to visit you" I said making the male look back at me with furrowed eyebrows.

"Mikey..." I explained.
Draken got back to his work "I know, he does that often"
"You know?"
"Yep, I just pretend that I don't see him"
"Thought you cared about him." I said.
Draken glanced at me "I do, but he isn't ready to face me yet so I won't push him".

After leaving Draken's shop I called Kuro.

"Morning gorgeous" he said.
I chuckled "someone is in a good mood".
"Well, I'm talking to my gorgeous boss where will the bad mood come from".
I clicked my tongue "flattery Won't get you anywhere mister, anyways I want you to contact Hiroshi and prepare 50 million dollars in cash, tell him that we are welling to cooperate".
"... You sure about this y/n?" His playful tune was now gone and replaced by a much serious one.

"We don't have any other choice"
He sighed "okay, I'll contact him"
We hung up and I headed to the HQ.

I was in my office waiting for Kuro to tell me when and where we will meet Hiroshi when the door opened revealing Ran.

"I didn't see you in a long time so I decided to check on you"
"You check on me a lot Ran, I might get the wrong Idea that you like me or something" I said playfully.

"What if it isn't the wrong Idea?" He asked making me look back at him in shock "what if I do like you?"

"This isn't something you joke about Ran" I said while looking anywhere but at him.
"Who said it's a joke?"
"You don't even know me Ran".
"I know enough" he walked towards my desk "beautiful woman, strong willed, lonely but you don't let it weaken you, no one can stop you from getting what you want" I was so focused on his words I didn't realize he was leaning with both of his hands rested on my arm rests "tell me y/n, did I get it right?"

"You did" I leaned slightly closer to his face "but it doesn't mean that you like me".
"I can show you that I like you, but will you let me?" His gaze landed on my lips and dragged to my eyes.
"Why don't you figure the answer of this question by yourself".

His lips met mine in a soft kiss as his hand cupped my cheek tilting my head to the side, his kiss was slow, a bit hesitant at first but when he realized that I'm kissing him back it got deeper.

For the first time since the timeleap, I realized that I can get back what I had with the executives, that we can be something more than strangers once again.

For the first time I allowed myself to have some hope, to be a bit greedy.
