"Hi! Welcome to Lux Jewels, how can I help you today?"

Never in my twenty seven years of existence did I ever think that I'd be standing in a luxury store like this to buy my girlfriend an engagement ring. I've never even contemplated the thought of proposing to somebody, because I always assumed that I'd be alone for the rest of my life.

The idea has come to me very recently.

People always say 'when you know, you know', which is a quote I've never understood until now.

Proposing to Delilah just feels right.

It doesn't feel forced or rushed, just perfect. I can already picture it in my mind, her pretty little face all smiley and giddy with excitement, her big heart pumping quickly due to the nerves, her stunning eyes welling up with tears. All of this as I'm knelt down on one knee with a gorgeous ring worthy to be worn on her precious little finger.

It made me smile just thinking about it.

"Sir?"

I shook my head, irritated at the assistant since they ruined my daydream.

"I want to look at engagement rings."

"Great! Do you have a budget?"

Ha.

"No."

I'd spend millions if it means I get to see Delilah smiling.

"Follow me," the worker said with a smile.

As I walked closely behind the worker, my eyes focused on the rings that were kept locked inside the clean, transparent glass boxes, none of which caught my eye particularly.

He lead me to a specific corner in the store where all the engagement rings were located, and I immediately began to search for the nicest one. I wasn't too picky, but if Delilah was going to wear this on her finger for the rest of her life, it should be the prettiest ring in the store.

"These are the rings which have real diamonds embedded into it, let me know once you've made a decision," he informed and I replied with just a nod.

I know Delilah prefers dainty jewellery, so I browsed through the rings which had a thin golden strap and a nicely cut diamond sitting on top, nothing too crazy or big since I know that's not what she leans towards.

My eyes remained fixated on this one particular ring.

I can already imagine my girl wearing it on her ring finger.

No other caught my attention except this one.

I looked up for a few moments, beckoning the worker over with my fingers and he began to walk towards me. Once he was close enough, I pointed at the ring I wanted.

"I'll take that one."

He nodded. "Great choice sir. It's a stunning ring, would you like me to wrap it up for you?" he asked, and I nodded.

He returned to the back of the store, pulling out a box from the drawer, which obviously contained the ring I asked for, and began to wrap it up.

I smiled once again as I looked at the one on display before walking over to the till.

"Your total will be $14,799."

I pulled out my black card and he took it from my hand with eyes wide.

"Your lady is certainly lucky," he teased whilst scanning the card.

"I'm the lucky one," I mumbled.
