Kaycee sits there, watching me while I cry my eyes out because I don‘t want to volunteer. It was just to scare Cato out of volunteering.
“Clove?” Kaycee says carefully, after a while. I look at her and she walks over to me and gives me a hug. I hug her back as hugging her makes me feel safe.
“Clove, I promise you that if we practice really well together you’ll be okay if you volunteer.” Kaycee tells me. “I was wondering if I could ask you a question before we start?” I ask her. “Sure, what is it?” She says.
“My friend, Cato, has a Personal Trainer too. Do you know who his is?” I ask her. I stares into the forest for a few minutes, thinking. “I believe that it’s Lydia Combe, who won last year.” She says, finally.
“That’s his friend! She’s also my friend. Why didn’t I even see her?!” I ask, not Kaycee but myself. I’m really annoyed that I didn’t realize that they were together.
“Where are they training?” I ask Kaycee. “Come on, I’ll show you.” She says. She walks off and I follow her.
She walks to the opposite side of the school and walks about the same distance we do. Half way she stops and points to the left. “Walk a little farther that way and you’ll find them.” She says, running off.
I walk the way she pointed towards until I hear voices, than I stop.
I hear Cato and Lydia talking about me. I’m too afraid to walk forward and confront them so I stay and listen to their conversation.
