We go to a coffee house to celebrate but I’m not in the mood because I know that I’ll most likely be forced to volunteer.
“Cato, are you still going to volunteer?” I ask him. “Yes, I most likely will.” He answers. I look down at the table sadly. “I’m sorry Clove.” Cato adds. I ignore him.
“I have something I need to tell you guys..” I say, sadly. “Yeah, what is it?” Lydia asks. “Kaycee was telling me something she had heard the other volunteers talking about. They’re saying that because I told them that I was really tough and ready to win the Games, that they’ll force me into volunteering.” I tell them.
Cato looks at me agrily and slams his fist into the table. Lydia starts to cry. “Of course! I should have realised!” She sobs. “Realised what?” I ask. I heard them talking about that but I wasn’t sure exactly who they were talking about! Of course I should have realised it was you!”
We leave the coffee house talking about what might happen during the reaping next week.
