Birthday Girl

I woke up to the sounds of birds chirping and was excited. I was finally 18! I went downstairs and saw everyone holding balloons and a huge cake just for me. I saw Camilo standing by Abuela, who was holding the cake.

Pepa came from behind me and pushed me infront. My cheeks turned red from everyone looking at me. Everyone was singing and I embrassedly blew out the candle. Everyone cheered and I smiled. Camilo handed me a box. He leaned into my ear and whispered,

"I got this for you," He pulled back and I untied the ribbon on the gift. It was a picture of me and him, when we were little in a heart frame. I gasped slowly and unconsciously hugged him tight. I could feel  him jump but relax back down. 

"Thank you so much Camilo,"

Everyone was gasping and giggling with joy. I let go of Camilo's touch and smiled at him. He looked down at me. "Happy birthday Y/n," He whispered. I walked back to the main hall to see all the decorations set up for me.

Someone came up behind me, flipped me around and hugged me. It was Micheal.

"Happy birthday Y/n!"

I smiled at him as he handed me a box. "You didn't have to-"

He shushed me. I slowly opened the box to reveal a beautiful dress. I hugged Micheal tight. "You're my best friend Y/n, I had to get you something." I smiled at him and went to change into my birthday outfit.

I came back downstairs and everyone was staring at me. They wowed at my dress and I smiled slowly at everyone. I took my Father's hand as we walked to the hall. Since it wasn't time for the party, I went to the fountain.

I sat down and thought about everything, just like the previous days. I didn't want my dress to get dirty so I got back up, ready to leave. I turned back to see Camilo. He grabbed my hand and made me sit with him.

"Nice dress Y/n," He said smirking. He leaned into my ear and whispered, "It would look better off," I turned into 15 different colors and looked away from him as he was laughing.

"I'm only joking Y/n," He was laughing harder than ever. I pushed him playfully and he seriously shifted his gaze to me.

"What did you want to tell me Y/n?"

"Camilo.. are you and Maya.. dating?"

He looked at me confusingly. "I don't know," He looked back down away from me.

"We spend time but I don't know what we have, we've hugged and stuff but I just don't know."

I looked at him with sympathy. "You like her though right?"

"Yeah," He looked at me again and our eyes locked. His green eyes glowed in the sunlight. He helped me up and we walked back to the Casita.

I helped decorate until it was evening, time for the party. There was lights set up and half the village was there. I walked in slowly as the whole crowd looked at me. I smiled shyly at each side and then walked up to the table with my cake.

My father, Camilo, Pepa and Julieta and most of the Family was standing there. I stood in the middle and looked at everyone. Dolores handed me the mic and patted my shoulder.

"Thank you everyone.. for coming. My special day couldn't have been better and I really appreciate it for Abuela planning all this. I'm glad once again you all came."

Everyone clapped and I smiled. I blew out the candles as everyone sung. I smiled at everyone again and walked down the hall. Everyone was celebrating and clapping and a pair of hands pulled me aside. I looked up to see Camilo.

"Can't I dance with the birthday girl?"

He moved his hand to my lower waist and moved my feet to sync along with his. I imagined it as just us dancing together. I could tell everyone was looking at us, but I ignored it. I only felt me and Camilo dancing.

In the corner of my eye I saw Maya. I saw her turning mad by the minute.

I moved my feet and Camilo twirled me around once again. He let go of me. "Thank you," He said quickly and walked away. I saw him walking towards Maya and I could see her yelling at him.

I felt bad but brushed it off. I headed back to the Casita after the party was over and set up the Photo Camilo had given me and smiled at it. I put my gifts in the corner and heard a soft knock at the door. I opened it to see Mirabel.

"Suprise! I wouldn't miss my best friends birthday for the world." I pulled her into a hug and she handed me a box. It was a necklace, with a picture of me, her, and Camilo together. I immediately clasped it around my neck.

"Thank you so much Mirabel, I'll wear it forever,"

She smiled, patted my shoulder and left. I changed out of my birthday dress and stared out of the Window to gaze at the stars. Casita quickly pushed me away and into bed. "Okay Casita," I said laughing.

I moved my pillows and went to sleep slowly.
