A full month has passed since they first met. They have been meeting regularly, sometimes going for walks and other times grabbing something to eat and drink. Overall, they have been enjoying their time together. Stella's introverted personality is a slight obstacle in all this, but she's slowly opening up. Kevin's caring and understanding nature helps Stella feel more comfortable around him the more they speak to each other. Now it was mid-June, the beginning of summer.
For the past few days, she had been feeling inexplicably down. Sitting in front of her computer, playing The Sims, she thought of inviting Kevin over to her house for the night. Perhaps his company could lift her spirits. She paused the game to text Kevin.
Stella
Hey Kev! I know this is out of the blue but... Would you mind coming over to my house to hang out today? You can sleep here if you want. I have an extra bed.
03:25 PM.She sighed after sending the message, hoping he'd agree, as she longed for someone to talk to. She then resumed playing The Sims while waiting for Kevin's reply.
Meanwhile, Kevin was busy cleaning the kitchen after accidentally spilling his drink.
"For feck sake. Luckily it's just water." -Kevin muttered, annoyed, as he mopped the floor. Once he finished cleaning, he returned to his recording room and checked if anyone texted him on his phone. Upon picking it up, he saw Stella's message. He nearly dropped the phone as he read the 'You can sleep here if you want.' part.'This can't be real! Is she really asking me to stay at her house?'
This thought raced through his mind as he trembled slightly. After a few seconds, he composed himself and replied.Kevin
Helloo! Yeah, sure. I'll be over there. The question is... when?
03:36 PM.He sent the message, already eager for her response. As he was about to put down his phone, he saw the three-dotted speech bubble indicating Stella was typing. His heart rate increased immediately.
Stella
Neat! Hmm... Will five pm do?
03:37 PM.Kevin let out a quiet "yes!" as he clenched his fist and shook it in the air.
Kevin
It sure will do! See you in a few.
03:38 PM.When she read the message she hearted his response. After this interaction, she set her phone down, smiling sweetly, and continued playing The Sims for a while longer.
Around four PM, she stopped playing and went to the kitchen to prepare some food to welcome Kevin. She made some grilled cheese sandwiches and prepared the soft drinks. After setting the table, she went to the bathroom to tidy up her hair.
Leaning on the sink with both hands, she sighed, looking down.
'I hope this isn't a mistake... I've only known him for a month...'
She then looked up and grabbed the comb to fix her hair. As she looked at her reflection, her negative thoughts began to overwhelm her. To the point where her eyes watered up and she buried her face into her palms.'I don't want him to see me like this! Stop this shit...!'
She begged in her mind as she tried to regain her control. Then she gently shook her head and sniffled before splashing some water into her face.
