I woke up feeling terrible, I was sweating yet I was cold. "Charlotte you're burning up." Jay placed his hand on my forehead. He quickly got off the bed and ran downstairs bringing an Advil and a small towel. "here drink this it will make you feel better. If I drink the pill it will cut the effect to my Lymphoma medication. "I can't," I quivered. "what? why not?" He said patting the towel over my forehead. "I, I'm allergic to it." He sighed putting the pill down. "so what do I do?" He said worried. "take me home..I have the right medication." My voice cracked at the end. He picked me up bridal style and placed me in the passenger seat.
He drove at the speed of light but I was more worried about getting home without fainting. Jay parked the car and brought me inside my house. I saw my parents follow him upstairs as he laid me on my bed. My mom had to drag him outside since he wouldn't leave my side. Once he was out of the room my mom locked the door and from my closet she pulled out a metal bar and a saline water bag. She hooked it up to the metal bar and took out a needle. I've always hated needles. I cringed when she stuck the needle up my arm which was connected to the water bag. The saline bag is used to hydrate me. But god I hate it. I cringed in pain. "don't worry honey just rest." My mom said. I closed my eyes and didn't wake up again.
7 hours later..
I slightly opened my eyes and looked out the window, great it's already night. I wasted a whole day in bed. I felt a heavy weight at the end of the bed. I looked down and saw Alan asleep. I tried to lean forward but my right arm was being held down with the needle and wires. I shifted my feet in a way to wake Alan up, which it did. He lifted his head to look at me and put on his glasses over his asian looking eyes that look huge with those lense. "Hey how do you feel?" He said. I nodded since I didn't have the energy to speak. "I'll go get mom." Alan jumped off the bed and ran downstairs.
A couple seconds later mom rushed upstairs with Alan. "Hey you okay?" Mom caressed my hair. "yeah I'm fine." my voice cracked at the end. "There's someone down stairs waiting for you." Mom said unhooking the needle off me. "That boy, Jay that brought you here this morning has been here the whole day waiting for you." She smiled putting everything back in the closet. "can I bring him up?" Mom said opening the door again. I nodded. She walked downstairs and I immediately sat up and started fixing my hair. I don't want to look like such a mess.
A few secs later Jay came up holding something in his hand. "I'll leave you two alone." Mom said closing the door. "Hey.." Jay sat on the bed. "Hey." I replied with a smile. "I brought you this book." He put the book on my lap. "You told me how much you love reading so I thought you'd enjoy it now that you have to get bed rest." I looked at the cover. It was a boy and a girl holding hands. The book was called 'the longest journey' "I mean I don't read much, but it looks interesting. It's about this guy that meets this girl at his job and they fall in love and travel together." I smiled and gave the book back to him. "read it to me." I pat the empty side of the bed. He took his shoes off and laid next to me. He opened the book cover and began reading.
