Hamilton ~ Washington Raises Alex, John, and Lafayette AU

How Did We Get Here? ~ Lafayette's Story

A/N: This takes place a few weeks after Washingdad finds Alex. Also any dialogue that is underlined is supposed to be in French.

"Alright kids! Today is the day you all get shipped off to America and go to a new orphanage." A worker announces to the kids. Some of them cheer and others groan.

"I know, I know. But America has great opportunities for you all to have a decent life." The worker continues. While she's talking, one of the babies starts to try to crawl away. One of the other workers see him and run over.

"Gilbert! Oh, why must you always try and run off?" She says, picking up Lafayette and sitting him back down next to her.

"Sorry, you may continue." She says to the worker speaking.

"It's alright, thank you. Now, everyone please get the kids into their groups and put them in the cars so we can drive to the ship dock!" The worker says(yep we're back at it with the ships).

All of the workers go over to different groups of kids and lead them out the door of the orphanage, each of them holding babies as well as some of the children's luggage.

"We better make sure Gilbert doesn't somehow get out of his carseat." One of the workers say. A couple other laugh. All the adults check to make sure they have the documents needed, and get into each of their cars.

~Timeskip of them driving to the ship dock~

They arrive at the ship dock, the kids jumping out of the car, some holding siblings or luggage. The workers guide them to the dock and board with the kids, getting all of their documents checked. Lafayette once again tries to escape, the workers catching him quicker this time. The workers check to make sure all the kids are on and get them where they need to be. The ship starts moving, some kids starting to cry.

"We've got a long ride ahead of us." One of the workers say, sighing.

~Timeskip of the boat ride~

The boat finally docks in America, New York to be exact. The orphanage workers pick up the babies and lead the older kids down the steps and out of the boat.

"Wow, it's so beautiful." One of the kids says.

"Great English, Fleur!" A worker calls to the girl named Fleur.

"Thank you, miss :D" Fleur replies.

"Fleur, since you know English so well can you go ask someone where the rental car place is? I'm over here handling our trouble maker Gilbert." The worker asks Fleur.

"Oui, miss Monet." Fleur responds. She runs over to a bald man holding a baby. He doesn't seem to be that occupied.

"Excusez-moi, can you tell me where the rental car place is?" She asks him.

"Oh, hello! Of course, let me write down some directions for you." The man replies, taking out a piece of paper.

"Thank you, sir." Fleur says.

"No problem, miss. Here's the directions :)." He says. The baby he's holding tries to take the paper.

"Alex! That paper is for this young lady, not you!" He says while laughing, "Sorry about that."

"It's alright, thanks again!" She says, running off with the paper.

"Here, miss Monet." Fleur hands her the paper that has the directions.

"Perfect, thank you, Fleur! Alright everyone, we're gonna have to walk to the place." The worker announces to everyone.

"But it's such a big city and we have infants with us!" One of the other workers says.
