Chapter 1 ~ Night Before School Chaos

A/N: Alright, we're in the early 2000s now. This is set in September 2002. Alex is 4, Laf is 3, and John is 7. Also let's appreciate the picture<3 it's good for this chapter

"Alright guys, you need to all go to bed early tonight, school is tomorrow!" George Washington calls to his three kids.

"But Daddy, you said I'm not old enough to go to school!" The youngest of the three, Lafayette, whines.

"Yes I know, but you have to get up early so we can take your older brothers to school." Washington explains.

"No fair! Alex isn't even a year older then me!" The small French boy protests. John walks over and picks Lafayette up.

"You know, I wish I could have both my brothers in the same school as me, Laffy. But they don't let 3 year olds into kindergarten." John explains to his younger brother.

"So you're telling me I will be here all alone?" Lafayette starts to sniffle.

"You'll have Dad! Besides, we'll be home at 3pm everyday!" John whispers. Suddenly, Alexander runs into the living room, almost knocking John and Lafayette over.

"I am so excited for my first day of kindergarten!!" The Carribean boy says, his hair in a ponytail and his backpack already on.

"Of course you are, ya little nerd. You've always loved writing ever since Dad taught you the alphabet." John scoffs at his younger brother, putting Lafayette down.

"Ooh, the big bad 2nd grader doesn't like school." Alex replies, looking up at the taller boy with evil eyes.

"I never said I didn't like school, Alex. I've just already been through 2 years of it." John defends himself.

"I thought you'd be excited to see Charlesssss!" Alex says in a sing song voice.

"You little-" John tries to hit Alex, but misses. Alex hit himself and screamed, getting their father's attention.

"DAAAAAAD! JOHN HIT ME😭" Alexander yells in a fake hurt voice.

"ALEXANDER YOU LITTLE LIAR-." John yells. Washington runs into the room.

"What is happening with you two?" He says, looking between John and Alex.

"HE HIT ME!!" Alexander screams, pointing at his arm.

"I did not! He hit himself and framed me!" John screams louder.

"Okay, okay, boys, let's stop screaming. Take some deep breaths." Washington says to the two boys, taking their hands. They each take a few deep breaths and calm down.

"Alright, now what happened?" Washington asks.

"John was making fun of me because I was excited for school, and then he hit me!" Alex explains.

"No, no, no, you're missing a detail! Alexander was making fun of me and Charlie!" John retorts.

"No I wasn't-!"

"Okay, enough you two! Obviously you're not going to agree, so we'll just ask Lafayette." Washington turns to Lafayette.

"Lafayette, what happened between John and Alex?" Washington says calmly.

"It looked like John was being a meanie to Alex, and then Alex hit himself and screamed." The youngest tries to recall what happened.

"Okay, thank you, son. Alexander, why did you hit yourself?" Washington turns to Alex.

"I didn't."

"Lafayette and John both say you did."

"But I didn't!"

"Oh for crying out loud, Alexander just tell the truth!" John chimes in.

"John, calm down. Alex, please tell me what happened." Washington says sternly.

"Okay, fine...I guess I was kind of being a meanie to John about Charles. But John tried to hit me and missed!" Alexander still tries to defend himself.

"But then you hit yourself and framed him?"

"Yeah..."

"Okay. John, please don't try to hit your brother. And Alex, it's not good to frame people. Now can you apologize to each other and hug?" Washington says. The two boys say sorry and hug. Lafayette cheers.

"Good, now time for bed!" Washington leads the kids to their bedrooms.
