the six Pogues stepped into the church taking a look around but didn't see the cross anywhere. John B placed his hand on Caroline and Pope's shoulder as they helped him up the steps still looking around the building.
"okay, you're telling me Denmark Tanny decided to hide the cross here?" JJ asked.
"mh-hmm." nodded Pope.
"everybody, just spread out." Kiara instructed and that's what everyone did.
"okay, well, if i was a cross and wanted to be hidden in an old church, where would i hide?" John B asked walking in further taking a look around.
"are you sure that Denmark hid the cross here, Pope?" JJ asked while Caroline looked in every corner tapping the walls. "like, are we at the right church?"
"it's gotta be here somewhere, guys." Pope looked at his friends.
"what if we have to push a secret button or, like, play, like, a.. a certain chord, and then, all of a sudden, the ground beneath us reveals the catacombs or something on which we stand?" JJ asked waving his hands over an old piano.
"JJ, it's not Indiana Jones." Caroline turned to her boyfriend.
"how about we try to find obvious clues?" suggested John B.
"it's not an escape room." Kiara stated.
"it's gotta be in here." Pope frustratingly said.
"sorry. i'm sorry." JJ whispered.
Pope started looking everywhere tapping on walls to find a hollow spot moving frantically.
"look, i can't see where they'd hide a giant cross in here." John B said.
"no, no. there's no way he would set us up on a freaking goose chase that would lead us to a church that has nothing in it!" Pope argued with John B.
"yes, i get it. i don't know what to tell you, man." John B said.
"the clues led us here. the cross is in this church." Pope assured everyone before taking a seat.
"we'll find it, Pope." Caroline walked over to him sitting beside him patting his back.
"Pope, it'll be all right. we've had setbacks in the past, and we figured it out. we're gonna find it." John B assured Pope.
"he's right." Kiara added.
"we've just gotta think about this logically, all right? where else would you hide a seven foot tall cross made of gold?" John B asked, Caroline stood up stepping out of the church looking up at the roof incase they missed it.
"what are you doing?" JJ asked following her.
"checking to see if it was on the roof incase we missed it." she said backing up standing on her tip toes. "and it's not there."
"come on." JJ held his hand out, taking his hand Caroline walked back inside with him to see Pope looking up at the ceiling.
"what?" JJ asked.
Pope stood up keeping his eyes on the ceiling as the others looked up as well seeing the wood shaped as a cross.
"oh my God! look at that."
Pope made his way to the wall his eyes still looking up at the ceiling as he started to climb up catching everyone's attention.
"Pope." Sarah walked over.
"Pope, be careful." Caroline said.
"hey, no!" JJ scolded.
"now Pope's climbing the wall." John B added.
"Pope, this church is old." Kiara told him.
Pope ignored everyone still climbing up the wall as everyone told him how old the building was and how weak the wood is by now. Pope knocked on one of the shaped crosses not hearing it hollow.
"all right, this one's solid wood. i'm gonna try the other beam." Pope looked at his friends.
"oh my God." Caroline covered her mouth watching Pope move to the next beam carefully.
"Pope, that's rotten as shit right there, okay?" JJ informed the boy.
"hey, easy!" Kiara said as Pope hit the wood again.
"Pope, i hate to break it to you, but that's wood." JJ stated.
"no, no." Pope grunted hitting the wood again, "it has to be here. i know it."
"bro, just look out for that giant wasp nest right above your head." JJ warned him.
"please, be careful." Caroline repeated.
"hey, just.. just nice slow, all right? nice and easy, all right?" John B instructed Pope so the wasps wouldn't go near him.
Pope kicked off a piece of wood which broke easily as it fell almost landing on his friends who were on the ground.
"look, it's hollow. go get me a crowbar!" Pope said looking down as Sarah rushed out to the twinkie.
"what are you gonna do, Pope? i don't want this entire church to collapse on top of us. that's all i'm saying." JJ said, Caroline turned her head to Kiara who looked worried and confused at the same time.
Sarah rushed in tossing the crowbar up to Pope, the two smiled as everyone clapped. Pope started hitting the beam as it easily started to break being careful with the wasps nest above him. the more Pope broke the beam the more the Pogues got to see what was inside, Caroline gasped seeing bits of gold start to show.
"holy shit." she whispered.
"do you guys see that?" John B asked.
Caroline nodded quickly as Pope broke off the rest of the wood showing the cross, everyone gasped and smiled not believing it. everyone cheered once the cross was fully revealed, Caroline pulled both Kiara and Sarah into a hug laughing and smiling widely.
"we did it! we did it!" Pope cheered as the wasps started to surround him.
"okay, they're stinging now. ow!" Pope yelled dropping the crowbar.
Pope tried waving them off him but lost balance slipping off the beam but still holding on tightly. John B rushed towards the cushions on the benches as everyone started setting them down under Pope and move the benches out of the way. Pope then fell landing on the cushions, Caroline rushed over to him kneeling down making sure he was okay followed by the rest of the Pogues.
suddenly Pope quickly rolled away as everyone jumped back and the Cross fell landing onto the cushions, Caroline's eyes widened as JJ held onto her tightly.
