Chapter Two ~ Dove and Grenade
"I can't breathe!" Nicole shouts fanning herself off with her hand. She had quite a scare with passing out in the middle of talking, but it didn't exactly surprise me--well, I was worried, just wasn't as surprised. Niki has a lot on her plate, and is very stressed out. "Oh ew, no, no, no—get out of my face, I need fans or hands not your mouths!" I couldn't help but chuckle, I sat up on the counter eating crackers out of a box.
"Are you okay, Niki?" Jimmy asks, putting his hands on Zacky and Johnny's faces pushing them away from Nicole.
"I think so."
"You might be getting sick," Brook says. Nicole's head snapped Brook's way, it was the usual Nicole; always scared of being sick--not exactly scared as much as she hated and loathed it. Then again, who didn't hate being sick? "Either that or you're just really stressed out." Brook shrugged her shoulders, leaning against the island that Jimmy had sat Nicole up on.
"I'm not-" I glared at Johnny after he took a cracker out of the box. I reached up into the cabniet to grab him a plate.
"Niki, you need to breathe..."
"You're telling me to inhale when you farted?" Niki shouts. I dropped the plate and began to laugh. Everyone began to laugh, but I was probably laughing the hardest at it. I knew my face was probably turning a bright red color. "Matt, just breathe man!" I tried to say something but it came out unclear to them all.
"Niki you should probably take a break from work," Jimmy suggests now becoming serious. "You work hard and you are almost working all the time," I wiped the tears out of my eyes and calmed down. "You should take a break, and if you want we can go on a vacation somewhere."
"Girl if you don't say yes, then I will!" Brook exclaims.
"Okay, I'll take a vacation from work." Niki finally says. We were all happy that she agreed, then everything would be going to plan; she goes to Hawaii with Jimmy, he asks her to marry him, they come back and we celebrate.
"And you realize that vacation means no work whatsoever," Nicole says to Brook--Brook was sort of a workaholic, sort of because she sometimes knew when to take a break.Brian wasn't a fan of it since he liked to spoil her and take her on vacations a lot. "You can't even think about what you're going to do when you get back to work!" Nicole headed into the living room, just as the door belle rang.
"I don't want her to even get the slightest hint about this," Jimmy says to Brook. "Got it?"
"Ya got it boss!" Jimmy headed into the living room with Nicole. Johnny and Zacky had already left in there with her. I look over at Brook and let out a breath.
"Do you feel bad about not telling Nicole?" I asked Brook. "You two tell each other everything."
"It is a little bit weird, but it's a good thing, so I'm sure she'll understnad. Brook says shrugging her shoulders. We both headed into the living room knowing that Marie had came to pick me up.
“He’s been searching through my house all day long,” Niki says. “He was looking for food but it was like he was on crack.” She shrugs and then looks over at me. “Are you on crackaty crack Matty-o-boy?” I roll my eyes and laugh.
“I am not on crack Niki.” I say.
“See I told you he sounds funny saying crack!” Niki says, elbowing Brian. I laugh and shake my head, I let Marie know that I was ready to leave then walked over to the front door and waited for her, she said her goodbyes to everyone and gave them all a hug before we headed out the door.
I wrapped my arms around Marie as we walked to the car, she let out a laugh then looked up at me. "So how was your day?" I asked her.
"It was good, like always." She smiled. "And yours?" I questioned.
"Terrible, I was starving and all I had was crackers! Now I know why Jimmy is so skinny." I chuckled. "I think I actually lost some pounds while I was in there." Marie laughed, I placed a kiss on her neck and then walked over to the passenger seat.
"You probably just picked a bad day to come over, they probably didn't even go shopping yet." Marie laughed. "And you really need to stop being so damn forgetful, Matty," Marie says turning on the car. "Whenever you leave the house, the first thing you have to do is makesure you have your keys on you!"
"I just have a lot on my mind."
"Like what?"
"Jimmy is planning on asking Nicole to marry him." I announced with a smile on my face. I was scared that Marie was going to freak out and stomp her foot on the breaks, but luckily she didn't.
"Are you serious?" She smiles "That so amazing--wait, why haven't you told me?"
"I was planning on telling you sooner, but I just never really got around to doing it." I shrugged. "It wasn't like I didn't trust you, or that only certain people could know. I was just so busy wth helping out Jimmy work everything out." I blurted out, hoping that she wasn't mad at me. "You aren't mad at me, are you?"
Letting out a sigh, she answered. "No, I'm not mad, just a little hurt that you didn't tell me sooner was all."
"I didn't mean to hurt you, you know that!"
"Yeah, I know. But next time something like this happens, you better tell me, alright? I want to be one of the firsts to know!" I smiled and nodded my head.
"You will always be the first to know everything, from now on."
