The rest of the day was mostly filled with introductions, like most first days of school. I tried to make the best impressions I could on my new teachers. Most of them seemed pretty chill except for Mr. Russet. I don't know what his deal was. At lunch I sat with Jessi and Lydia as well as a few other popular kids. Senior year was forecast to be a good one.
When the final bell rang I ran out to find Jake waiting outside the school doors. I sprinted into his arms and he wrapped me in a warm hug. He held me tightly and kissed my head. His presence made my whole body feel warm and fuzzy. "I have missed you so much," he whispered as he tilted my chin up. This was the longest Jake and I had been apart since the beginning of summer break. He had left about month before school started to go visit his grandparents in California and he wasn't supposed to be back for another week. "Why'd you come home so early?" I asked, afraid something was wrong. "I couldn't miss your first day of school," he smiled as he leaned in to kiss me. I forgot how much I loved the feeling of his lips on mine. An electric shock was sent through my body and I shivered.
"Get some, Beth!" I heard Lydia yell. Jake and I quickly pulled apart and I blushed. Jessica whistled and called, "Encore!" I smiled at Jake and he reached for my hand. I grabbed it and we walked over to my friends.
Once we were standing across from Jessica and Lydia, Lydia poked Jake's bicep. "As hard as ever," she winked. "Really, Lydia?" I gave her a disapproving look. Did this girl ever stop? Lydia shrugged and Jake chuckled. "Come on, Beth, it was just a joke," Jake smiled. "Not funny," I sneered. I hated people fliriting with my boyfriend. "Gosh, chill," I heard Lydia whisper to herself. That girl sure knew how to get on my nerves. Just before I went off on her, I felt Jake's hand on my back as he leaned down and whispered, "It's okay, babe, you're the one I really love." Though this did not put out my fire, it at least restrained it. I sighed and nodded my head. "Soooo," Jessica sighed awkwardly, "How about some froyo?"
Hey everyone! I hope your day is going well! I'm hoping to update once a week with this particular book. Can you see any foreshadowing conflict? xx
