I ran through the back doors and back into the house. By this time there was no stopping the tears. I could feel eyes on me. I looked through my glassy vision for Jessi, but I didn't see her. I proceeded out the front door of the house and starting running down the street. Now I was absolutely bawling.
I ran about a block before I plopped down on the sidewalk and threw my head into my hands. I cried and my mascara ran everywhere. I couldn't believe Jake. How could he? We had been together for over three years and he dumps me for a girl like Lydia? She'd go after any guy, and I mean any! She went after our dang calculus teacher! There was no way she actually liked him. She was using him. She was toying with him. But why was he toying back? I was the best girlfriend and I loved him. I loved him. He loved me. Or did he? Did he ever really love me? He couldn't have. If he had really loved me, he would've remained loyal. He wouldn't have gone behind my back. "And I never even got my drink," I sobbed. I heard a front door open and close and I hurriedly got up and wiped off my eyes.
"I-I'm sorry. I was just-" "Bethany?" I looked up at the stranger. "What?" "It's me, Dylan. We used to go to school together?" This was Dylan? Last time I checked, Dylan was pudgy, awkward, and a total nerd. I could say the opposite for him now. He was tall and handsome. His jaw was beautifully sculpted too. He had dark, messy hair and eyes that could kill. He was attractive to say the least. "Woah, you've, uh..." "Changed. I know," he chuckled. I smiled, but I wasn't happy. "So what are you doing on my sidewalk?" he asked. There was a comforting kindness in his voice. "Oh, um. I'm not sure I want to talk about." He nodded his head and replied, "Alright. Do you need a ride home?" "I don't think I'm ready to go home yet." He nodded again and he took my hands in his hands. "You've changed too, Bethany You're absolutely stunning." "I'm not really at my best right now," I joked. He brought me into a comforting hug, but quickly pulled away. "You're so cold. Come inside and I'll give you one of my sweatshirts. I bet my mom's sweatpants would fit you too." "Dylan, no, I couldn't." "It's fine." "I haven't seen you in forever. Why are you being so nice to me?" "Bethany, we have math together." "We-What?" "I came back to Avid this year. Mr. Russet's class? Calculus? I sit in the very back." That made sense why I hadn't noticed him. I sat in the far front. "Oh, right, I remember now," I lied. "So, are you coming or not?" He pressed. "I guess?" Dylan began walking towards the house and I followed shortly behind.Dylan. dYLAN! I couldn't wait to introduce him!!! #Bylan? xx
