Chapter 2

Y/n's POV

I went into my own portal popping up next to Delores.

"Cousin Dolores can hear a pin drop!" Mirabel told some children who were around her as Dolores held a hand up to her ear, playing along. Well, she could hear the pin so not really playing?

The children looked at me, having heard me laugh. Mirabel followed their gaze with a smile.

"And Y/n, her best friend, can teleport!" I put a hand on my hip as I winked before disappearing to reappear behind them. They were lined up so I put a hand on each of the outer two children, spooking them as they turned around in awe. Gold sparkles were around me and the spot I had just teleported from.

Mirabel went on with her song, turning the children's attention to Camilo. He gave a pillow to a woman taking her baby from her.

"And Camilo can shapeshift!" Sure enough, he did, now cooing to the baby as the woman laid down to nap. I couldn't stop the smile that came onto my face. He really was a great guy. He looked up at that moment and we made eye contact. Camilo gently smiled as he bounced the baby. I could feel my cheeks warm up as I quickly looked away not seeing Dolores wink at Camilo, in turn making him blush.

"Ready Dolores?"

She nodded and linked arms with Y/n. They set off to do some grocery shopping for Tia Julieta for tonight's big event.

(TIME SKIP)

Dolores and I were walking by the door when Abuela yelled out, "MIRABEL!"

Dolores and I stopped to see what she was doing.

"She was about to tell us about her super awesome gift!" One of the little girls yelled back.

I arched a brow as Dolores spoke, "Mirabel didn't get one." She shrugged her shoulders while making a noncommittal noise. I crossed my arms while following Dolores.

"Don't you think that was a little harsh?"

Dolores side-eyed me while saying, "Maybe, but it's not something you can sugarcoat, is it?"

I nodded with a thoughtful expression, "I suppose you're right." I sighed. "I wish she got a gift."

Dolores nodded while finishing her task. "I think we all do Y/n."

(TIMESKIP TO THE PARTY)

Music was playing and everyone was having fun. People were still coming too. From where I stood with Dolores, I could see her brother greeting people. He would transform into the person themselves and greet each one differently.

He used his gift well and often, I just wish I could see Camilo more. That was my favorite.

Dolores nudged me out of my thoughts. "Are you going to keep staring at him or ask him to dance?"

"Me? Ask him to dance? No way Dolores!" To me, that idea was impossible.

She rolled her eyes and crossed her arms. "It's no different to just talking to him, I refuse to allow you to do nothing about your crush."

"Oh, like you with Mariano?"

Before she could reply I apologized, "Sorry, that was a low blow." I grimaced.

She just nodded and uncrossed her arms. "He hasn't seen me, he's too focused on Isa, but Camilo HAS seen you. You just have to try N/N."

Y/n sighed with a small smile, "You sound like my mother."

Dolores grinned, "Your mother is a smart woman."

Together the girls giggled. Camilo turned at the sound. He smiled seeing Y/n smile. He hoped to one day be the reason for it every day. Y/n turned her head to glance back at Camilo not expecting to make eye contact. Both pairs of eyes widened before she gave a shy wave. Camilo grinned before turning to greet another person.

Dolores and I went behind the curtain together to wait for Antonio. Whenever Pepa's emotions were going a bit wild, my mother would help with her gift, she could feel and control emotions. Because our moms were best friends, our two families grew very close. Dolores and I became best friends, me gaining a crush on Camilo, and Antonio was like my little brother.

Camilo joined us shortly after. Upon seeing me he playfully bowed and took one of my hands kissing it softly. "Mi Amor," He winked at me and straightened up.

I froze. My face was bright red and I could tell. I wasn't expecting that. My love? Where had that come from?? Seeing my dilemma, Dolores shooed Camilo to the side before flicking me in the forehead.

"Y/n!" I shook my head and smiled at her. I'm fine. This is fine. We'll just ignore what just happened.

Camilo's POV

It was almost time for Antonio to receive his gift. I wanted to wish him luck beforehand so I went behind the curtain. I figured my parents would be there already but I instead saw Dolores and Y/n.

Upon seeing her, I playfully bowed and took one of her hands kissing it softly. "Mi Amor," I winked at Y/n and straightened up.

She didn't respond oddly enough. She usually always has a witty response. I watched as her face slowly went bright red as she processed what I said and did. Dolores shooed me to the side and flicked her in the forehead. Ouch. Y/n blinked rapidly as Dolores said her name and smiled.

I grinned. I had finally flustered her, and all it took was a pet name. Huh. Duly noted.

I'm hoping to write more soon, hope you enjoyed this chapter! The next time I update will probably be after Midterms, which will be in about 2 weeks. I will definitely try and write more despite having tests though!
