Back at the silence again with the sounds of clock ticking and slow breaths seeming louder than they have ever been.Eyes were wide open because Soobin just couldn't sleep, his umber irises unknowingly drifted off to his side seeing Yeonjun sleeping peacefully cuddled to his pillow.
Yeah, Soobin was ditched for his own pillow.
Pillow-less— if that's even a word, Soobin laid on his mattress admiring his sleeping best friend, his thoughts centered around how peaceful he looked, completely contrary to his previous breakdown he had.
Yeonjun had crushed on Ji-sul for months before, he was the one who asked the other out on date with Soobin being the supporting pillar continuously giving the older motivation for getting his love.
Pfft— only if he actually used some motivation for himself, Yeonjun and he would probably be naked under the sheets and Yeonjun would definitely not be sleeping.
Anyways, getting back to Ji-sul, Soobin was not expecting such a thing to happen because as far as he remembered Ji-sul really cherished Yeonjun— he'd do it better of course but Ji-sul was a great boyfriend.
They'd go on occasional dates, he was supportive towards Yeonjun and both of them were practically stuck to each other's hips for the time they were to together, fights and arguments were often but they both had this understanding between them, it all worked at the end of the day (much to Soobin's dismay).
It looked perfect— it was perfect. They were perfect for each other.
What exactly went wrong then?
Whatever happened, Soobin is a bit glad about it.
Come on, Soobin wasn't that extremely kind hearted cliché best friend having a crush who was always wishing for Ji-sul and Yeonjun never to break up, there were reasons he wanted that to happen and him loving Yeonjun wasn't only the reason he wanted that to happen.
And one of the many reasons that he wanted Ji-sul away from Yeonjun is because he didn't let Yeonjun be around him.
The older one had a full fledged talk with him about how Ji-sul doesn't like when they get touchy— Dipshit.
Y'know, that overprotective boyfriend who is cautious about his partner being around with people from his preference as if everyone is trying to steal his partner.
Soobin was wishing for their breaking up but not once he did something that would ruin their relationship he grimaced at it but did nothing, just saw everything and let his heart hurt making him realize that some wishes are only coming true in dreams and fake scenarios.
He liked seeing Yeonjun happy but it hurt even worse when he knew that it wasn't him who was making his first love happy.
If something could hurt more than that, it was the fact that he wasn't his first love's first love.
Enough of the overthinking.
Oh yeah, getting back to Ella seems better than these stupid thoughts.
As decided, Soobin switched on his lamp beside his bed, one of his hands reaching out to cover Yeonjun's eyes so he wouldn't be bothered by light while another was busying itself in making him wear his glasses and picking the book up.
A curse left his lips when he realized that through the havoc he had forgot to add a bookmark which made him skim through those pages again reading about Ella's father getting bankrupt so they had to stay in a low maintenance house that looked straight out of a horror movie but of course the family in the horror book doesn't believe ghost exist but have crosses hung around their neck and worship Jesus.
