I woke to sunlight streaming on my face. I was so warm, all I wanted to do was lie in this bed. My parents' body heat was contributing to it. They lay beside me, still sleeping.

If I moved would I wake them? I hoped not.

Slowly, I crawled out from under the covers. They both slightly stirred, and I froze. I waited about  five minutes until I was sure they were asleep, and hopped out of bed.

I went to explore the house. I really hadn't seen much last night. I tiptoed to a large room. There was a table off to the side with chairs surrounding it. Countertops and cabinets lined the walls. A long white object, a fridge, stood off to the side. An oven was in the middle of the countertops.

My stomach rumbled. I opened the fridge to see what food there was. It all looked better that what the blobs gave me.

Please quit calling us 'blobs'. It's quite disrespectful, considering we raised you.

What would you like me to call you then?

Call us..aliens. Humans like to call us that, anyways.

Ok, aliens.

I grabbed a bowl that had long green objects in it. I saw a brown bottle and grabbed it, too.

I opened the bowl and the smell of cold food came to me. I examined the brown bottle and figured out how to open it.

I turned the bottle upside down and watched at the brown liquid poured over the green things.

Should I eat this with my hand?

Use a fork.

A fork.... I looked around and saw a small pitchfork. Maybe this was a fork?

i grabbed it and stuck it into the food. It pierced the green things and the brown liquid dripped from it.

I stuck it in my mouth and almost threw up.

"Elizabeth! What in the world are you eating?", mom said behind me.

I turned around, swallowing the disgusting food.

"I'm not sure. It looked good.", i replied.

"Honey, green beans and chocolate syrup do NOT go good together.", she said as she came and dumped the experiment in the trash.

"I didn't know, sorry.", I said appologetically.

"It's ok dear. Here, how about you have some cereal?", she asked. I nodded. Probably anything was better than that.

A while later I was eating a crunchy food in a white liquid. I think mom said it was 'cereal and milk'.

It was way better than green beans and syrup.

We sat in the 'living room'. Nothing in here was living though, execpt a few plants.

My mom turned on a television. Scenes came to life on the small screen. A couple, walking through the park. A yellow sponge roaming underwater. Dogs barking.

I heard a very high noise. It was not like the beep, beep, beep of the hospital. It was a long, drawn out noise, and it hurt my ears.

EGG KLIKE!!! TURN IT OFF CHILD!

i covered my ears and started to scream.

"Elizabeth! What's wrong?!?! Honey, answer me!", mom yelled.

My dad came running in the living room, looking like he just got out of the bed.

"TURN IT OFF!", i yelled.

Mom looked confused then she saw the tv. She quickly turned it off and the noise stopped.

I started crying.

"What's wrong elizabeth?", mom comforted, holding me.

"The...The noise.", was all I stuttered out.

"Have you never seen a tv before?", dad questioned.

"No, it's..it's just there was a really high pitched noise, and-and it hurt my ears.", I cried.

"Oh honey, I'm so sorry.", mom said.

"We should go outside, have some fresh air.", dad suggested. Mom nodded and she led me outside.

"Wait, mom, could...could I have other clothes please? It's a little cold out here.",I said.

"Of course! Why didn't I think of that?", she said as she rushed inside. She came back out with a long sleeved shirt and pants.

"Here, these are mine. I hope they fit. I haven't got you any clothes yet.", she smiled.

I grabbed them and headed inside to change. They were a little big, but they worked. I came back out and mother smiled.

"You look way better. Would you like to stay outside and read a book?", she asked.

"I.. I don't think I can read...", I muttered. She looked stunned.

"Did they not teach you how? My poor baby!", she said as she ran to hug me. Was reading that big?

******************************

I spent the whole afternoon learning new things. How to read, how to cook, whats good to eat together, and how to spell. I had learned the basics.

"You are learning really fast dear, I'm impressed.", father said. I smiled at him.

"We when get you up to your grade level, we will enroll you in school. You will have to make new friends, but that shouldn't be too hard. You'll love it.", mom explained. School?

"Uh, sure.", I said.

"Ok. Let's retire early tonight. We've had a long day.", dad suggested. We all agreed and I went to sleep with them again. My life was actually becoming pretty good, except for the fact that I had nightmares at night of the aliens experimenting on me.
