Grievous, a Star Wars Story

Operation Ultimus pt. 1

The night settles on a war torn and bloody Alderaan. Smoke and cinders of previous battles fills the air. City ruins smolder with a roaring fire. Orbital bombardments have ravaged entire cities, turning bustling technological beacons into piles of ash overnight. The death toll climbs even higher, as the war spreads to every corner of the galaxy. Famines devastate entire systems as their resources run dry. Increasingly desperate measures are used on both sides.

The republic base on Alderaan fares no better. Morale is low and contact is being cut off. Signal jammers from the separatist blockade prevent any rescue forces from reaching them. Scout troopers see signs of separatist troop transports landing on the planet. Up to hundreds, dotting the sky only hundreds of miles away. This sets the base into a frenzy. Clones rush to prepare defenses and ready up the escape ships. Rex and Cody try to maintain a semblance of order

Later, clone engineers intercept an encrypted separatist transmission, detailing a massive high command operation.

"Base commanders, meet in command center for an urgent briefing, we have news to discuss." 

Anakin, Obi-Wan, Rex, Cody and the clone engineers stand together, tensions palpable in the air.

I wonder what this could be. Anakin thinks, Perhaps a rescue force or a better battle plan to break the blockade. Whatever it is, I hope it's good. 

"General Skywalker, General Kenobi, we have news of a terrifying development in the war. CIS high command are in the action phase of Operation Ultimus. This could spell the end of the republic as we know it. We very well may have caught it too late." The clone engineer says.

"As you know, we rely on the Outer Rim forces as our resource bases, right? Well the plan the separatist have is to launch several diversion invasions on core worlds, not intended to win, only to distract us. The true brunt of the attack are on our Rim worlds, which they will take in a massive coordinated system attack. If this succeeds, we will run out of supplies and our production capabilities will be crippled. They will have tripled our forces with the new droid factories they will inevitably build. Our best projections if they win say we will be outnumbered a million to one. This cannot, must not happen. We may have to sacrifice some core worlds to win, but we will stay alive as a fighting force."

"This is most concerning" Kenobi says. "And I'm assuming we are the only ones to know about this operation?" Kenobi asks. 

"Affirmative, sir." The clone grimly confirms.

A scout clone bursts through the door, winded from running back. 

He stands up and salutes.

"Sir, separatist forces have breached the outer perimeter 10 miles out. They will be here within the hour. West and South side. An evacuation order must go out now."

Anakin says, "Copy that. He picks up the comms. "All personnel, prepare for boarding on the evacuation ships. The droids will be here ETA 1 hour or so. This is our last shot." 

"Download the operation details, bring them with you and guard it with your life." Anakin commands.

"Yes Sir" The clone responds.

As they exit the command center, Bruiser and his squad walk up to the Jedi Master and apprentice.

"We're staying sir, to cover the evacuation. All these resources and people can't be moved out within an hour, but we'll keep them safe. We promise. 

Bruiser's squad is composed of mostly heavy troopers. They are nicknamed Fury squadron. They are some of the most experienced troopers, having served since the first battle of Geonosis. Highly skilled and dangerous, they've pulled entire platoons to victory in seemingly impossible battles. During a battle on Bracca, droid forces, including a whole Battalion worth of B-2's advanced into republic territory. Droidekas slowly advanced alongside them, an overwhelming force to be reckoned with.
