35~The Calm Before the Storm

Emma's POV

I sit at the bar at Granny's, admiring my new and sparkly ring, while waiting for my breakfast to be served.

Suddenly, I see Will from the corner of my eye, as he comes to take a seat by me. I cover up my ring with my right hand, hesitant for anyone who knows Ana to know about my engagement.

"So," he says," I guess now would be the time for me to congratulate you, Emma Jones."

"What do you mean?" I ask as ignorantly as I possibly can and look away.

"Come on, Emma, do you really not trust me with knowledge about your life?" Will makes a pouty face.

I give in and stop hiding the ring.

"Can you blame me? You clearly still have feelings for Ana, and people will do anything for love," I suggest.

"You think I'm scheming with her? I wouldn't put a friend's life in danger for anything," he defends," Even thieves have honor."

I roll my eyes playfully and he smiles. Granny hands me the plate of pancakes I ordered. I stand up and grab and extra fork.

"Sorry, Will, I gotta go," I say," I'm having breakfast with Killian."

"Ah," he remarks," your fiancé. See you around."

I walk over to the booth where Killian is sitting, and place the plate of pancakes in front of us.

"Good morning, darling," he greets me with a grin as I hand him his fork.

"Good morning," I say back.

"What did Will want?" Killian questions what I knew he would question.

"He was just congratulating me," I explain.

"Didn't we decide not to tell him?" he whispers.

"Believe me, I didn't tell him. He just knew. I'm not sure we can quite fully trust him. Though his intentions are pure, love can drive anyone to do anything," I worry.

"I thought we agreed not to get our minds hung up on Ana," Hook grabs my hand and fiddles with my ring.

"You're right," I sigh.

There is a minute of silence while we take bites of our pancakes.

"Speaking of moving on," he clears his throat and grabs something from his pocket," I picked this up on my way over here."

He places a house catalog in the middle of the table.

"We're looking at houses already?" I ask," How soon are you planning on getting married?"

"As soon as possible. Sometime in the next month preferably," Hook suggests.

"Woah there, this month?!" I say in shock.

"I know it doesn't give us a long time to prepare for the wedding, but I want as much time with you as possible just is case Ana...well, you know," his voice fades away.

"I thought we agreed not to get our minds hung up on Ana," I mimic with a smirk on my face.

"And it's also because I am so sure about this Emma. There is no point in waiting a year when we are so ready now. I love you, and I don't see that changing anytime, ever. As for the matter of setting it all up so quickly, everyone would be willing to help you out with anything. You saved the whole town, and they all love you," Killian sincerely states.

I lean across the table and kiss him.

"I guess you're right. We are ready," I smile and look at the houses in the catalog.

"I thought that this one by the docks was gorgeous. The view is absolutely breathtaking," he points to a picture of the home.

We continue to talk about places to live for quite a while until I get a text.

Henry: Mom, come home NOW. It's an emergency.

I burst out of my seat and Killian reaches for my hand.

"Emma," he says worriedly,"what is it?"

"It's Henry," I exclaim," Something is wrong."
