6 days later.....
It was the day of the Viceroy's arrival. The helpers at the palace were in a hurry to dust up the rooms for the guests. Spider webs were being dusted from old rooms, new flowers were being placed in vases which contained water. Each room had a table and chair, an in-built bathroom and a balcony facing the beautiful lake. The clock tower was inside the boundaries of the palace but it's unusually tall structure made it visible to people outside the palace too. The time was 7.30 AM. The viceroy was said to be arriving around noon.
Aarya woke from her slumber when there a knock on her door. She straightened out her hair with her hands and opened the door. It was Saira.
"Good morning princess Aarya! Rani Anjali had asked me to wake you. She also asked me to make sure that you'll be ready in 30 minutes. The palace is preparing for the arrival of the viceroy." She said walking into the room to help reorganize it.
"Good morning to you too Saira, I'll be there, but I just don't understand, perhaps if you could elaborate what you mean by preparing for the arrival of the viceroy."
"It's nothing to be worried about. The guards are just doing their usual errands and some of the helpers, including me are dusting out a few rooms for the guests to stay in." She was smoothing out the edges of the bedsheet that she had newly put out.
"And done, now I'll be leaving. Oh and please don't forget to be downstairs in half an hour!" and with that Saira left the room.
Aarya went into her bathroom to take a quick shower. After she got dressed up, she went downstairs. The time was 8.27 AM. Like always, she was on time. As she went down 3 sets of stairs she saw that her family were seated at the dining table, waiting for their breakfast to be served.
"Good morning Aarya, have a seat" her father said.
"Good morning father" she replied.
The breakfast was unusually quiet for some reason when Aarya decided to speak up which eventually made the tension fade away.
"So father, have they said anything about the visit other than 'to supervise the functioning of the princely state?'"
"Nothing yet, but something tells me their visit does not serve good intentions."
As breakfast was over, Raja Chittor went to the royal court and Rani Anjali was taking care of the food preparations.
Aarya and Arvita were sitting by the water fountain, both constantly glancing over the clock tower as each minute passed by, signaling that they were getting closer and closer to meeting the cruel man face to face. The atmosphere was so tense, it was as if they were waiting for a revolt to break out. Aarya was just not able to understand. She always thought the viceroy was nothing but a human, he had 2 eyes, 2 hands, a nose, 2 ears and all other bodily features a homo sapien contains. He just had a sinister mind. Arvita suddenly spoke up,
"What do you think they're coming here for, Didi ?
"I don't know Arvita, we'll only find it out with time"
"What if they're here to take over the kingdom?" Arvita asked, worry clearly evident in her eyes
"I'm not sure about that" Aarya said, having not even thought about that, she felt afraid.
After almost 10 minutes they could hear trumpets and horses. This is it, they had reached. The Singhs went to greet their new guests.
As they reached the front gate, they saw the viceroy stepping out of his carriage and looking around as if he was surveying the place. He had a very serious look on his face. His soldiers were right on his tail.
Aarya's POV
The viceroy had a confusing look on his face.. Was it ego or anger? Just like he had said, he brought a few soldiers along with him. He started introducing each and every one of them. A young man stepped out of the carriage. I'm guessing he was the nephew. Knowing that he didn't go with what his uncle did, I felt sort of, comforted maybe? I felt that it was okay to be nice to him. However, that doesn't mean I'll blindly trust a person that I've merely heard of.
"Greetings to you, Singh" the viceroy said.
"Namaste, Viceroy William," Said Chittor Singh, folding his hands. It was the traditional way to greet a person, be it a friend or foe.
" I can see your kingdom is almost to ruins, is it because your people do not have enough food to eat? What a pity" Spit out the Viceroy.
Wow, this man hasn't even stepped inside the palace and he's spewing hatred about the kingdom? I was almost about to say something when my mother held my arm. She knew I can't tolerate it when someone bad mouths our place and when he said those words, I almost threw my self control straight out the window.
"Let me introduce you to my men; this is Liam Payne, the most hardworking soldier you would ever meet." He said, pointing to a man in a suit who had dark brown eyes and brown hair.
He introduced a few more soldiers like James, Dennis and Tom.
"And this here, is my nephew, Harry styles"
I had to admit, he did look quite good. But that still wasn't enough for me to be able to trust him. After the introduction was over from the viceroy's part, my father spoke up.
"Welcome to the palace of Darbhanga. Now, let me help you to get familiar with my family. This is my wife, The Queen, Rani Anjali." My mother gave a smile and greeted them with a Namaste.
"This is my younger daughter, Princess Arvita"
"And this right here, is my elder daughter, Princess Aarya" I was quick to repeat the same actions as my mother did. Wouldn't really want them to have a bad image of my family.
Harry's POV
As the king was introducing his family, I saw that one of the royals, maybe somewhere around my age, wasn't as interested in the welcoming. She was truly very beautiful.
"And this right here, is my elder daughter, Princess Aarya" and with that, I realized that she was the princess of Darbhanga.
A/N Sooo... how was that chapter?? I hope you enjoyed it oh and this is the casting for whom we met in this chapter-
