Aarya's POV
"Why does father want me present at the court Arvita?"
No reply..
"I asked you something Arvita, Why does father want to see me?"
"I DON'T KNOW OKAY? I'M JUST AS WORRIED AS YOU ARE SO JUST WALK WITH ME"
That was the first time I had ever heard my sister yell at me.. Wow, this must be really bothering her.
At the court
I see my father seated on the throne, he was deeply lost in his own thoughts. That posture of his scared me, what if the viceroy had passed another ruthless law...
"Aarya, my child, my head cannot carry the weight of the crown anymore, I am getting older and sicker as the day passes, but, I cannot leave the people of Darbhanga under the care of another stranger. Aarya, you are one of the bravest women I have seen not only within the borders of Darbhanga, but, throughout all these years of war, blood and deaths, you are the only girl to never have broken from the inside. I am so proud of you and your sister for you have proved to the world that daughters are no less than sons, which is why, YOU Aarya Singh will be the next queen of Darbhanga. I have planned for your coronation to happen next week and from then on, you will be the Maharani of Darbhanga."
I simply couldn't believe the words coming out of my father's mouth but, I still felt powerful, a type of power which I knew could not be snatched from me even if they tried.
As I was returning back to my room, I heard something, it sounded like Harry and the Viceroy were having a huge argument.... something about Harry's fiancé, blackmailing and death..
I need to know what has happened...
I know I shouldn't be so concerned about a literal stranger but something just makes me curious to know about him.
I heard the viceroy's footsteps exiting the room and so I took cover behind a wall. As soon as he was gone, I noticed that Harry had noticed me trying to hide. He seemed frustrated and so I tried finding out what had happened.
Author's POV
"What just happened?" Asked a curious Aarya.
"With all due respect my dear princess, you need not know" replied Harry
"But I want to, no, I NEED to, what if your uncle and you are planning some conspiracy against my kingdom, it's a security concern not only to my family or me, but to all the people living in my kingdom." Aarya demanded to know what had happened
"It's not a conspiracy and funny that you think I'll ever plan one with him"Harry replied harshly.
"Well then how would you explain the secret meet up in that room?"Aarya questioned fiercely. She was very protective over the people of her kingdom, the same people who gave everything in raising her to the bold woman she is today.
Harry now gave up the argument and tried to wave the princess off with a goodnight. However, Aarya insisted on knowing the reason.
"You want to know the actual reason? FINE! My uncle killed my fiance in cold blood" Harry exclaimed and Aarya was taken aback but she didn't know by what... Was it Harry's sudden outburst or the fact that his own uncle had killed the woman whom he loved so dearly...
