Autumn Affair

It was not just an idea, it was love.
Sensibility must be something we've never heard of.
I must've fallen for the person you never truly were.
As I wish you recall our shared gaze and beautiful words.

You need those words I'm afraid to say.
You left as if I could never be a reason to stay.
If I tried to fix you, you would mess with my head.
But I could patch up the love and stability you wrecked.

I'm falling to heaven, it's downwards I fly.
For I'll never show all the things I hide.
We kept alone with secret passion
We didn't think to care about what could happen

You are my safe haven, yet still my fear.
The worst part is you have no idea.
I'm nothing but thorns from the rose I used to be.
What could only be seen was my only beauty.

Autumn has gone and your memory fades.
I watch as I slowly become your shade of grey.
An affair so cruel, we were wild at heart.
I treasure what is left of us, but away we part.
