"The Valley of Imraldis. In the Common Tongue, it's known by another name." Gandalf says. Both Silveria and Bilbo step up and look at the elven city in wonder. "Rivendell," Bilbo says. Silveria has now transformed to her human form and stands tall next to Bilbo. "Here lies the last Homely House east of the sea," Gandalf says behind them. Silveria turns slightly as she feels Thorin's mood change.
She's swiftly at his side, a hand placed on his shoulder as a minor threat that he shouldn't start this now. Thorin glances up at her, and she gives him a meaningful look, and he is quiet. "If we are to be successful, this will need to be handled with tact and respect and no small degree of charm. Which is why you will leave the talking to me." Gandalf says. The Company walks across a bridge and enters Rivendell. A few elves are seen strolling about. Bilbo gazes in awe at the beauty of the place. The dwarves look uneasy.
Silveria has no expression at all, but inside she's freaking out at how beautiful it is. She's been in Rivendell before, but its beauty never fails to amaze her. A dark-haired elf walks down a flight of stairs and greets them. He glances at Silveria, and a small smile is sent her way. He threw turn to Gandalf and greeted him. "Mithrandir." Gandalf smiles. "Ah, Lindir!" As Lindir and Gandalf greet each other, the dwarves murmur in distrust. Thorin whispers to Dwalin. "Stay sharp." Silveria hears this but stays quiet.
She hears Gandalf and Lindir talk in elvish. She understands most of it due to Gandalf learning it. "Lastannem I athrannedh I Vruinen." [subtitle: We heard you had crossed into the Valley.] she hears Lindir says. "I must speak with Lord Elrond," Gandalf says. "My lord Elrond is not here," Lindir says, and this perks the young shape-shifter's attention. She is with them in a brisk walk.
"Not here? Where is he?" She asks softly. Lindir doesn't get time to answer as the Elvish horns from earlier are heard again. The Company turns around, and they see a group of armed horsemen approaching along the bridge rapidly. "Ifridî bekâr!" [translated: Ready weapons!'] "Hold ranks!" Thorin calls. The dwarves bunch up together into a tight circle with their weapons pointed outward; the mounted Elves arrive and ride in circles around the dwarves. Eventually, they stop, and one elf, Elrond, separates himself from the others.
"Gandalf," he says. Gandalf bows gracefully. Lord Elrond then turns to Silveria, and his eyes light up. "Ah, lady Silveria, an honor to be in your presence again," he says and bows his head. Silveria nods thanks, and the elven lord turns to speak with Gandalf. "Lord Elrond. Mellonnen! Mo evínedh?" [subtitle: My friend! Where have you been?] Gandalf asks. "Farannem 'lamhoth I udul o charad. Dagannem rim na Iant Vedui." [subtitle: We've been hunting a pack of Orcs that came up from the South. We slew a number near the Hidden Pass.] Elrond answers.
Elrond dismounts from his horse, then he and Gandalf hug. "Strange for Orcs to come so close to our borders. Something, or someone, has drawn them near." He holds up an Orc sword and shows it to everyone, then hands it to Lindir. "Ah, that may have been us," Gandalf says. Thorin steps forward, and Elrond looks upon him with recognition. "Welcome Thorin, son of Thrain." He greets.
"I do not believe we have met," Thorin says back. Silveria glares, but he doesn't see it. Elrond continues, unfazed by the rude prince. "You have your grandfather's bearing. I knew Thror when he ruled under the Mountain." He says. "Indeed; he made no mention of you." Thorin sneers back. Ignoring this insult, Elrond turns to the dwarves and speaks in Elvish (Sindarin). The dwarves don't understand what he is saying.
"Nartho I noer, toltho i viruvor. Boe I annam vann a nethail vin." [no subtitles; translation is: Light the fires, bring forth the wine. We must feed our guests.]. "What is he saying? Does he offer us insult?" Gloin exclaims. The dwarves grow bellicose and grip their weapons uneasily. Gandalf speaks exasperatedly. "No, master Gloin, he's offering you food." The dwarves quickly discuss this amongst themselves.
