Busy Days (chapter 0)

Everyone's getting ready for the youngest Madrigals ceremony. The little Antonio's gonna turn five years old in a week.

Julieta's in the kitchen, making all kinds of sweets and meals. Agustin is out shopping for condiments. Camilo and Luisa are helping around the village. Pepa and Felix are helping Antonio find the perfect clothes for his birthday.

Alma pressured everyone to do their best. This ceremony cant go wrong. It would ruin the famous Madrigals reputation.

Mirabel POV

This is the day. I have been preparing for this day for a while. Today I'm gonna run away. Just a few last things to do.

"Here goes nothing."

I say as I sneak in Isabela's room. I carefully observe my surroundings as I walk towards her bed. It would be really akward if she were to come here now.

I gently set down a box on the bed. It's a light blue box. On the inside lies a small hand sewn teddy bear. It has a small pink flower on it's tiny head and a red heart in it's front paws.

One last thing to add. A handwritten letter with the words.

"Dear, Isa.

Hey, this present is for you. By the time you read this I'm most likely not in the Encanto. I figured it would be the best for everyone if I didn't stay longer.

I know we had our differences, but don't worry about it too much. I don't hold a grudge.

I don't know if you ever need to hear these words from anyone, but you matter a lot. Don't let anything get in your way. Be happy and most importantly be yourself.

Oh, before I forget. Please check on Antonio sometime. I know his gift ceremony is just around the corner. He's probably really nervous.
Please be there for him, now that I can't.

Now, I have to get out of here before anyone sees me.

Onto the next one, Luisa. I think I saw her going around town helping villagers. I don't think she'll be back soon.

"I hope this goes well, I don't want to cause a commotion."

I sigh and open the door.

Good, noones here. Now to the gift. I place the small box on her bed.

It holds a similar teddy as the previous box. But instead of a flower, it has a small yellow butterfly on its nose.

For the letter, I wrote

" Dear, Luisa.

Hey, I made this for you. I hope you like it. I was wondering what little detail to add to it. I think it turned out pretty cute.

Now, you might be wondering why I made this. Well, to put it simple, I am going away from the Encanto. It's for the best.

Don't worry about me. I will be just fine. Take care of yourself and don't overwork. I would be really sad if you get hurt or fall ill.

I think thad should do it. I have to hurry though. I don't know when any of them discovers the suprises.

I just hope Dolores didn't pay attention to me. It would not be pleasant to have to explain what I'm doing.

I hurry to the kitchen, hoping I don't run into mi mami. I quickly grab a handful of stuff. Mostly arepas and other stuff that holds up long. I don't want them going bad.

I sneak up to the nursery. I don't have much time. I pick up my bag, which I packed the night before.

Last thing I need to do is place this letter here.

"Hey, everyone.

It's me, Mirabel. I won't be coming back. I left the Encanto. I love you all and this is for the best. It'll be better for all of you without me.

I love you mami and papi. Love you tia Pepa and tio Felix. I love you Luisa and Isabela. Love you Camilo, Dolores and I love you Antonio.
I hope you get your gift. Your the coolest, keep being you.

And lastly I love you Abuela, even though you probably didn't want me around. But now I'm not gonna be a burden.

As I look out my window, i admire the scenery one final time.

Beautiful flowers and houses. Full of life and happiness. I wonder what it's like on the outside.

What songs do the birds sing on faraway lands. What kind of new people will I meet?

Everyones preoccupied with the preparations. What a busy day it is today.
