Mirabel POV
I woke up to sound of people yelling. As I slowly opened my eyes I saw Sergio and three misterious people. My vision was still blurry, but I started to see that they're wearing some kind of uniform.
I slowly got up and walked closer to the scene.
"Sergio, what is happening?"
I asked, as i got closer. He suddenly yanked me behind him.
"Don't move from my side, they're here for us. Just be quiet. I'll try to handle the situation. If I shout to run, you run for your life. Understood?"
He said in a low whisper. I just slowly nodded and hid behind his tall posture.
I wanted to ask more, but I knew the answers already.
These are soilders, looking for new recruits for whatever war is going on a few kilometres away.
I didn't think it was this serious, and I have a feeling Sergio didn't either.
I quietly followed outside. The men were trying to get him to cooperate. Seemingly impossible.
As time went on they began to be more and more aggressive with it. As if shouting and threats weren't enough.
Then, out of the blue. One of them took out something. I heard Sergio shout, but i couldn't move. My vision started fading as I lost consciousness.
Narrator POV
One of the soldiers took out a gun, then fired it twice. Hitting Segrio in the shoulder. The second shot hit Mirabel in her collarbone, and easily broke through it.
As she lost consciousness and fell, Sergio caught her. He did dot wish to give in to the soldiers, but he slowly got weaker from the bloodloss.
Last thing he saw was the soldiers taking both of them to a chariot.
When he woke up he was in a camp of sorts. With soldiers his age, and a couple of teens. He immediately looked for Mirabel. After a bit of searching, he found her. She was on a small bed, made of ripped and faded fabric.
He was relieved to see she's not dead. He didn't want to fail her too.
If he wanted to be honest with himself, he saw his daughter in Mirabel. He lost her at a young age. He didn't want to relive that pain.
Mirabel POV
I woke up with my head aching. I was in a small place with dimmed lights. As i looked over to my right I saw Sergio.
He had bandages over his left shoulder. He looked at me in relief.
"Good, you're awake. You really got knocked out. Hows your head?"
He said in a calm tone.
"It stings, but I'll be fine. What even was that?"
I replied in a tired voice. To be honest, my head wasn't what hurt the most. My chest felt like was impaled right through it.
"You should eat a bit and then rest, you may not get the chance to do so for a while."
He suggested. I didn't know what he meant by that last part, but I was too tired to even question.
Instead, I got to eating some of the arepas my mom made. Good thing I packed some of her cooking.
It healed me in seconds and I was feeling a lot better.
A bit later I went to sleep. It didn't take long before I fell asleep.
I saw myself in a black room. Abuelas words started circling in the darkness. I tried calling out for help, but the voice just got louder and louder.
I couldn't speak, then I suddenly saw my family. But they didn't look happy. They all stared at me with immense hatred in their eyes.
They got closer and closer. I eventually heard them speak.
"Why are you so useless?"
"You are such an idiot, did you think you could escape your fate. All you are good for is messing things up!"
"You hurt everyone."
"This is why we hate you."
"You'll never be good enough. No matter how hard you deny it."
They started overlapping eachother. All I coul hear was a loud mess of words. It was loud. I couldn't escape.
I woke up in a cold sweat. My heart was beating out of my chest. I curled up into a ball and tried calming down, but it didn't work.
My breaths became more and more frequent. I couldn't get enough air, no matter how I tried breathing. I tried taking big breaths, but if I got a little more air in it stinged like hell.
I started panicking, and tears streamed down my cheeks.
Sergio quickly noticed and rushed over. Trying to calm me down. He pulled me closer to him. He straightened my back a little and started talking to me in a calm quiet voice.
He ruffled his hands through my hair and didn't let go till my breathing steadied.
Then he asked if I wanted to hear a lullaby. I just slowly nodded my head.
He started humming a familiar tune. I felt like I have heard this song before. However, I didn't know where.
I soon fell asleep. His voice was the most calmin thing I've heard in a while.
-------------------------------
Hey there, I hope I didn't dissapoint. It may have been a little shitty, because I didn't know how to write the events at the end.
I think it's as good as it can get. I'm not the most experienced in this kind of stuff.
However, I have well thought out the events in the story for now. It was a little tricky because I started this as a midnight angst idea. I intend on making 20 - 30 chapters, depending on some stuff, but that is a big spoiler.
Until next week (hopefully)
