ZAHARA

I gazed around my surroundings as I waited for my name to be called. I managed to get up early today, thanks to the new alarm I had placed in my phone.

The others were so excited for me and they couldn't wait to hear all about it, once I would get back home.

I stared at the young family in front of me. They seemed to be having fun with each other. One of the kids was playing with his food and his mother tried her best to slap his hands away from doing the so. The father held his phone up as he laughed and recorded the whole ordeal.

I looked down at my lap and sighed. It made me miss my family. I knew that moving far away from them, would cause us to barely see one another and I hated it sometimes. They would always find ways to cheer ne up and get me out of the sour moods I'd be in.

"Ms. Nichole?" A sweet voice called out to me.

I looked up and smiled at the lovely waitress.

"Yes?"

"He'll see you now."

I felt my heart begin to beat faster. This was it. I had spent most of the day yesterday, looking for something to wear. I didn't want it to look like I had dressed up just to impress him. But I wanted to look nice.

I decided that I would go basic but formal. A white blouse with a long jean skirt. I had put my locs up into some kind of bun. It had grown to shoulder length now, so that made it easier for me to do. Finally, I settled for diamond studs instead of my large hoops, because I didn't want to draw any other unwanted attention toward me.

I got up from the chair as she lead me out of the patio, where most of the guests had been dining in.

The place was pretty crowded and I couldn't help but look at all the guests, while they chattered on about lord knows what. Finally, I was brought into a more secluded area that had a much darker feel to it, than the brightly lit ambience we just walked out of.

She pointed to a couch, which had been placed across from a large wooden desk and told me to wait a moment.

She walked off around a corner and I leaned back into the couch, letting its warmth consume me.

This place was quite cold, so the warm couch had been doing wonders on my body.

"Ms. Nichole?"

I opened my eyes and looked up to the woman.

"Yes?"

"Mr. Huang will see you now." She smiled pleasantly.

I quickly nodded my head at her and got myself up from the couch, before dusting myself off and following behind her.

We walked into the same direction she had emerged from. Once we passed the corner, I noticed a door with the name 'Elijiah Huang' placed on it.

I took a deep breath and quickly pulled myself together.

The woman knocked on the door and turned to me.
