Chapter four: train explosion

Kathryn gazed at the quest board looking towards the rankless jobs as well as the ones for level ones. Finally she found something that peaked her interest - a Rankless job that offered 1'500 Yuan to guard some rich guy from the west on a train ride to Rosenweld to visit his aunt.

She awkwardly took the piece of paper from the quest board.

"Well let's hope this guy is a good conversationalist..."

And with that she took her first job. Boarding the train where she would meet her client, she bid farewell to Erisa and Erisa's husband Goldmund whom she was introduced to earlier that day as he had just returned from a mission.

"Kath! Please be careful!" Erisa cried out waving her hand at the station.

"I will don't worry! Thank you for accompanying me here!" The Aries girl cried out too waving her hand before entering the train.

Yup this guy was rich or at least well-off - he was a comely elderly man, with greenish-grey eyes and warm smile - accompanying him was a lad with skin of a darker caramel shade - Dark blue hair and turquoise eyes accompanied this man.

"Father your friends guard is here." The lad said snapping the elderly man out of his thoughts.

"Oh! Right! Sorry about that child! Come sit! Jeffery just went to the comfort room, he said he will be back soon."

"Father... Look." The younger boy murmured quietly as he pointed towards Kathryns miserly brass aries necklace.

"Huh? What?" The elderly man looked towards her chain as well and his eyes widened.

"Ugh! Jeff! I'm gonna kill that cheap bastard! What's he thinking?!"

Kathryn's eyes widened in shock but the train had already left the station twenty minutes ago - but she could guess what they were talking about - Jeffery - as his name was apparently had not properly filed the job request and somehow it got passed whomever was meant to ensure it was ranked properly.

"W-why aren't I only guarding you guy to Rosenweld on a train how dangerous could it be?"

"Did he not mention anything other then the guarding job?"

"No!"

"He didn't mention that there were Scorpio assasins from a dark dark order after him?"

"What?! No! What's he even doing taking train and getting other people involved then!"

"There's on one else on this train but us. Do not worry. And it is heavily guarded but he still should have mentioned the assasins after him." The lad answered as he stood up.

"I will go and look for Jeffery and watch him, they aren't after my father so if they do come take him and jump out of the window."

"But how about you?"

The boy smiled:

"I am a zodiac Lord too... Do not worry."

And with that he left her and his father.

"I'm so sorry about Jeffery and the fact that you were dragged into this." The elderly man began.

"Nuuu, its fine! It's not your fault! By the sounds of it you told him to rank it properly. But will your son be okay?"

"Oh? James will be fine. He's Cancer dragon, and a Hughes."

"Hughes?" The girl stuttered, "Do you perchance know of anyone by the name of Cedric Hughes?"

"Oh yeah he's my nephew! I haven't seem him in several years though my sister and I had a really bad falling out... You know him?"

"Yeah! - Not very well though I met him by chance when I joined my order."

"Ooh... How is the boy?"

"He is really cool! - a bit shy though... Hehe..."

"Thats good... How is he doing financially? My sister did always put that bastard of a husband over Cedric's best interests."

"I'm sorry I don't think its my place to talk about someone's financial state. But know that he's a very strong boy - he will surely make it!"

"Hmmm... I understand thank you very much... Do you know of anyway I could get in contact with him?"

"I could ask if I can pass his star gadget signal along... Sorry I don't like giving away personal information without permission." Kathryn answered, "Would you like me to ask him? I can text him right now."

"You would do that for me?"

"Of course! It's only a text away!" The girl said with a smile. Before she got out her star gadget and texted Cedric. Just as the text was sent was when it happened.

The train exploded and poisonous gas began to leak, quickly Kathryn summoned four safety masks, gave one to her charge and rushed to find James and Jeffrey.
