Chapter 2: A book
KATY POV
We were at the bookstore for about an hour and a half, I finished my book so I went to find a new one. I was soundlessly walking around rummaging through the fantasy section of books, it was quite messy. I didn't really find anything I liked so I headed back to Torie, she was still reading the new book that she wanted to read surprisingly. How is she so slow at reading? I thought to myself.
I decided to wait until Torie was done reading her book, she was almost done. While I was waiting for Torie to finish reading I was just scrolling through TikTok on my phone, I had saw a funny picture of shrek and I laughed out loud, causing people to shush me and Torie looking up from her book at me, I silently said sorry and decided not to watch TikTok, for now.
I went to go look for more books, I was walking through a new section of books, Magic.
I actually found a interesting book from the section, y'know actually when I was little I thought magic was real, like people could make things float and disappear, I also thought Harry Potter was real, I pretended to be Hermion Granger, thinking of that made me cringe. I was holding the book I found, it was called Wingless. That's when I got a text from Torie.
Torie
Hey, where are you? I finished
the book, it was soooooo good! 🤪
You need to read it, I'm still at
the bean bags, come. 🤪

I started shaking my head while walking when I saw Torie's text, I can't with these emoji's. I made it to the bean bags where I find Torie, sleeping. I sigh, but then I realized she was snoring hah, this'll be some great blackmail, well maybe not blackmail.
Flashback
"Hey Katy, you were asleep earlier and you were SNORING, HAHAHA-" Torie burst out laughing, I shrug "and you don't?" I say. "Dude are you ok? I don't snore, why? Because I'm a real woman, women don't snore, unlike you" Torie says, I walk away from her there is no way she doesn't snore, I'll catch her some day.
End of flashback
I push Torie off the bean bag. "OW! WHAT THE FUCK!?" Torie whisper yells (because they're in a bookstore) while she rubs her head, "what? You were asleep, also come look at this" I say, I took a video of her snoring. "WHAT THE HELL? THAT'S OBVIOUSLY EDITED, GIVE ME THAT" Torie whisper yells again jumping up trying to grab my phone out of my hands, obvously trying to delete the video, "I guess you aren't a real woman" I say, walking off swinging my phone in the air with my hand, Torie trails behind me.
I wave to Torie as she walks out of the bookstore, she had to leave early, for dinner. I spent a few minutes in the bookstore admiring the nice vintage looks of the place, it reminded me of my time in Alaska for some reason, Alaska was nothing like Paris. I got a text from my Mom.
Mom
Honey, dinner is almost
ready, you should come home now.

I was running as fast as I could, and I didn't know why. I didn't know why the bookstore owner was chasing me. I never did anything wrong, so why? Shit! What's happening? I have to get out of here, I never knew Tessa was a PSYCO!? I was still running until I had lost Tessa, I was actually apart of a track team back when I was a freshman, that doesn't matter though! I was so confused, I had many questions, why was Tessa chasing me? Why am I like this? Why did she looks so mad? Is Tessa a Psyco? I was sweating from running so fast, I turned to go into an alleyway, I leaned against a brick wall trying to find my breath.
I finally gained my breath again, I finally realized that my bag was a lot more heavy then earlier, I open my back. "What the FUCK!?" I yelled out loud, a couple that was passing by looked at me, I gave an awkward face then turned back to my bag as they walked away... it was the BOOK, THE BOOK I FOUND IN THE BOOKSTORE, I took it out of my bag, it had a rough cover which I liked for some reason, I started walking out of the alleyway back to the bookstore to return the book, maybe that's why Tessa was chasing me, I feel like that was a bit dramatic though. While I was walking I decided to open the book and that's when I regretted everything, or did I? When I opened the book I....
