Jake had never been part of any social circle. He was always there, though. You knew he was there, but you never really cared to talk to him or become his friend. He was like the dirt on your gym sneakers: normal, and completely forgettable.
Nothing about him stood out. He could fade into the background in an instant, and you wouldn't have even known he was there to begin with. Maybe that was his talent; being able to make himself known when he wanted, and then disappearing into thin air when he wanted to remain under the radar.
It was his senior year in high school, two weeks before graduation.
You see, anyone can guess that Jake didn't kill himself because of his school life, for it was exactly the way he wanted it. His problems were set deep into a place that he was supposed to feel safe, and loved. A place he was supposed to cherish. Instead it held his biggest secret.
A secret that no one had the right to know about, but had to be acknowledged for it to be put to a stop. Confusing? Well, here I am about to tell his life story, so here goes nothing!
Jake was beaten and abused by his father.
Jake's younger half-brother, Jaylnn, was treasured by their father. Their father bought him everything he wanted, while Jake got nothing but a fist to his chest. Here's a fun fact: their father viewed Jake as the reason for his wife's death. She died giving birth to him, on October 7th, 1996.
It's sad really, to mark someone's birth with another's death. And, sadly, every seventh of every October, Jake would be in excruciating pain. His father's gift to him on his birthday would always
be a broken bone.Well, I suppose I'll stop here. Until next time, enjoy your day (or night).
Yours truly,
Quiet Observer.
