Samantha's perspective:

I had to stay back at school because the school authorities thought that paying for an antivirus is dumb and someone decided to sabotage the yearbook draft with obscene words. I honestly found "fuck you" written all over the cover page pretty accurate for the shittiest place on earth. Everyone in the yearbook club left because apparently everyone has a date to go to and here I am an hour after the school has ended, trying to delete the "fuck you's" from the yearbook. "Ugh" I groan and slam the desk, "I'm done with this shit", I get up and get the cheap pendrive from the teacher's desk and upload the yearbook draft and decide to go home even Miss Jane told me not to, I'll make an excuse. The computer lab is all the way on the third floor and walking down the stairs is the hardest part. I walk down to the first floor and see a shadow, I am taken aback and I start thinking of all the worst things it can be, "I knew the school was haunted" I say out loud and saw the shadow move, "Hey, ghost I'm just going home okay, I don't like this place too, so I'm with you and I love horror movies so that means I love you, now just don't scare me
Okay?" I hear a chuckle and I peek down, Andrew Hughes is sitting on the steps. "Andrew? What are you doing here?" I say.
"Samantha it's not Andrew it's the ghost of the school" he says in a weird raspy voice and then coughs. I walk down the stairs towards him " ha ha very funny, why are you still here, school ended more than an hour ago".

"I don't feel too well"

"People go home when they don't feel well, and you're here sitting on the cold stairs"

"I cannot go home, you know how it is Samantha, I will feel worse if I go home"

Andrew's brother ran away with his girlfriend to some remote village after graduating and this strained his parents relationship, they fight all the time and it takes a huge toll on Andrew. He often spends nights at Zeche's house, which is just across from my house.

"What about Zeche? Why don't you go to his house? I can drop you"

"Zeche has gone to visit his Nana with his entire family, they'll not be back until next Sunday, plus I'm just gathering courage to get up, then I'll go home, what are you doing here?" He winces.

"Yearbook. Someone wrote "fuck you" all over the yearbook and I have to fix it", he looks at me and smiles then closes his eye and winces again.

"Hey, does it hurt anywhere?"

"It hurts everywhere, Millie"

'Millie' is the name my parents told my friends in preschool when they couldn't pronounce Samantha, no one except my parents have called me that since 5th grade.

"No one's called Millie since 5th grade"

"I always liked Millie" Andrew says this and drops his face on his knee. I walk down a stair and crouch, lifting Andrew's face up, "Andrew what wrong tell me"

"My entire body hurts, specially my stomach and I feel dizzy and pathetic"

"Come on, I'm gonna take you home, you'll get worse if you stay here". I extend my hand for him to get up. He refuses "I can't Samantha, I can't go home" he says tearing up

"Alright" I say hugging him, "Come to my house, my parents are out for their anniversary celebration, and my sister is spending a night at her boyfriends house"

"Are you sure? I don't want to be a bother, don't you have plans"

"You are not a bother to anyone, I really don't think you should be alone, what would I do if you died and I was the last person to see you, you don't want that for me right? Plus besides deleting fuck you's from the yearbook I don't have any plans" I extend my hand again, and he takes it. I help him down the stairs and we reach the parking lot which has only my car. I open the door and help him in. I take both our bags and put them in the backseat. Just as I start the ignition, I look at Andrew and he is already asleep. It is a 20 minute ride to my house and I turn on the heat to make it comfortable for him, my car always has a blanket, even though I never use it. I cover Andrew with the blanket and silently drive, which felt really weird because I always had music blasting from the radio. When we reach I shake Andrew softly, he groans and looks at the blanket. "Where did this come from?"

"My car always has a blanket, Always, we're here"

"The car is so comfortable I don't feel like getting out, the blanket it the cherry on top."

"You wanna stay in the car for a while"

"Yes, you ok with that"

"Ofcourse! Anything that makes you feel better"
I carefully place my hand on his forehead and sigh. His temperature is really high. After sitting there for 15 more minutes I get worried because he coughs.

"Hey, let's go inside, shall we?" He nods and we both go inside. I take him to my room and he sits on the bed, I bent ahead to remove his shoes but he shakes his head and removes them on his own.
