| Chapter 41: Stand by you |

"Don't you think something is weird with Malfoy lately especially around you?" Asked Hermione as the four of you were making your way to see Hagrid for the hearing.

"Eh, whatever Y/n did keeps him out of our hair then I am all for it!" Ron said happily. You laughed at this knowing why Malfoy hasn't been busy bullying the four of you. After he said that he wanted to gain, Harry's approval which he hates but still needed to do.

"Beautiful Day" You smiled looking around

"Gorgeous. Unless, of course, you've been ripped to pieces!" Said Ron with venom while looking at Hermione. It made you and Harry look at each other, confused to what the beef was between the two again

"Ripped to pieces? What are you talking about?" Harry asked confused

"Ronald has lost his rat" Hermione said looking very done with it

"I haven't lost anything! Your cat killed him!" Ron accused and this made you snort not wanting to be involve in this Cat and Rat fight.

"Harry, you've seen the way that bloodthirsty beast of hers is always lurking about. And Scabbers is gone!" Ron said referring to Crookshanks the cat. You just listened to them fight, admiring the beautiful day.

"Well, maybe you should learn to take better care of your pets!" Hermione yelled and Crookshanks climbs onto one of the stone walls behind them as they walk on to the Covered Bridge.

"Your cat killed him!"

"Did not!"

"Did!"

"Didn't"

You clearly had enough with the arguing "Enough please. Lets just enjoy this day and go see what Hagrid is up to" You said as Hermione and Ron turned away from each other. Harry laughed making you snicker as the four of you made your way to Hagrid.

The four of you meet up with Hagrid who was by the lake, skipping rocks.

"How'd it go, Hagrid? The hearing?" Hermione asked looking at Hagrid who continued to skip rock

"Well, first off, the Committee members took turns talking about why we were there—" He pauses and throws another rock bouncing across the lake before continuing "—Then, I got up and did my piece. Said how Buckbeak was a good hippogriff, always cleaned his feathers. And then, Lucius Malfoy got up. Well you can imagine, he said Buckbeak was a deadly and dangerous creature who would kill you as soon as look at you"

"Run in their blood" Ron grumbled as you nudge him

"Not nice, Ronald. The enemy might not he nice but you need to nice and being nice angers the enemy" You said looking at Ron who was rubbing his stomach that got nudge.

"Sorry..." He pauses "Mother"

You rolled your eyes, crossing your arms and sighing.

"And then?!" Hermione asked quite eager

"Then he asked for the worst, did old Lucius" Hagrid grumbles skipping another rock

Ron was in anger "They're not sacking you?!"

"No, I'm not sacked" Hagrid said then he skips yet another rock, then speaks with his voice breaking "Buckbeak's been sentenced to death!"

"WHAT!?" You shouted out for the first time in that day. You were angry.

A scraping sound is heard, and a man is shown as he sits against the tree-like structure in the courtyard, with crows all around him. You, Harry, Ron, and Hermione step out, and see the man, Walden Macnair, sharpening a massive axe blade. He looks up at them as they approach; Hermione scowls at him as she walks past, obviously knowing that he intends to use it on Buckbeak. Macnair looks at Harry and grins maliciously as he continues sharpening his axe. Harry, Ron, and Hermione walk along the Covered Bridge, heading to Hagrid's cabin.
