this is inspired by what once was mine by liz braswell! it's basically an official-disney-released alternate universe of tangled where instead of the queen being healed by the sundrop flower, she gets healed by the moondrop flower. it's pretty interesting

gonna be honest, the book wasn't the best, but it was fine. wish we got more eugene/rapunzel moments though. yeah there were plenty, but i guess it just didn't feel right to me,??? he only revealed his real name towards the very end. and apparently they got married soon after rapunzel returned to corona. idk, something about them in this book just didn't give me the happy feelings i always get when thinking about them :(( i love them so much, but somehow i feel like rapunzel and magda had more chemistry 😭 (i hope magda, wherever she is, is doing ok ❤️)
SO HEARTBROKEN THAT THIS BOOK DIDNT INCLUDE ANY NEW DREAM QUOTE !!!!! or maybe it did and i forgot,, idk man i started reading this book in november but kept stopping because i forgot about it lol

anyways here's a little new dream scene that replaces the part where they get in an argument, around page 315. idk,, i was hoping for a scene like this but there was nothing and i got sad. i've had this in mind for so long but now that i have (finally) finished the book, i'm gonna write it
also i hate calling eugene flynn but this is set before he reveals his name so i have to. i'm sorry </3

"Hey, Princess," Flynn strolled his way towards Rapunzel and sat down next to her. "Mind if I steal you away for a bit?"

She quirked an eyebrow, "Only if you stop calling me that."

He sighed, taking her hand and bringing her to her feet, careful to avoid the shimmering charms Rapunzel had removed from her hair. Flynn nodded towards the forest, "C'mon."

"Where are we going?"

"You know how I said tonight would've been the lanterns? Well..."

He pushed some bushes and leaves out of his way, revealing a large tree with thick branches that extended towards the clouds. Rapunzel stared, confused as to what this had to do with the lanterns.

"You think you can climb?"

She nodded.

Flynn took the lead, showing her where to place her (bare) feet and how to hoist herself up. Sure, they could've used Rapunzel's hair, but where was the fun in that?

Soon enough, Flynn stabilized himself on an exceptionally sturdy branch and held out a hand for Rapunzel beneath him. She carefully took it and climbed to sit next to him.

The view took her breath away.

"Oh my God," she whispered. "It's beautiful."

And it was. The tree was on a cliff overlooking the capital. The castle was far in the distance but close enough that they could still clearly see it. Boats lined the docks and blobs of people mingled in the kingdom. Rapunzel sighed, longing to be with them, but feeling reasonably content in the small cottage hidden in the woods. Yes, her real family was there, but she had Flynn, Gina, the Goodwife, and Pascal. What else could she truly need?

"Knew you'd like it, Witchy."

Rapunzel scoffed, her moment of fascination abruptly ending with Flynn's absurd — yet endearing — nicknames. "Witchy? Seriously?"

"What? You don't want me calling you Princess, so what else am I supposed to call you?"

"My name."
