Chapter 3

*LILY POV*

After the Potters left, Black and Potter both started looking around for their other friends while I looked for mine. 

Potter turned to face me and said "Sorry about my parents. I'm also sorry for disturbing you all those years". I was speechless at the sight of JAMES POTTER apologizing. But before I could reply Black shouted "MOONY!!!! WE"RE HERE!!! MOONY!!!!".

"Hey guys. Hi Lily. Congrats on getting Head Girl" Remus said. "Thanks Remus" I said.

"Prongs we gotta go. Wormtail is already inside already" Remus said looking at Potter. "Ok. See ya later, Evans." Potter winked and they left me standing alone.

A few seconds after, I was hugged from the back. When I turned around I saw all 3 of my best friends standing with big grins on their faces. "HEY LILY!!! CONGRATS GIRL!!!" Marlene shouted.

"Thanks, Marly. Come on. Let's get on the train and get a compartment, girls." I said while running towards the train.

*JAMES POV*

"Ok. See ya later, Evans." I winked. Padfoot, Moony and me walked towards the train. We found Wormtail in a compartment eating Bertie Bott's every flavor bean. 

"Hey guys. Come on in" Wormtail said. 

Wormtail was Peter Pettigrew. He was not as tall, lean or muscular like the other boys but they treated him the same. I sat down as Wormtail said "Congrats Prongs". "Thanks Wormy" I replied.

I saw Evans and Marly walked past our compartment to find their own. Marlene McKinnon and I had been neighbors since I could remember. I loved her like my own sister. I also knew for a fact that she had a crush on Sirius. Sirius also had a crush on her. Marly can only be described as Sirius's girl clone.

I talked to the boys for awhile before Remus and I left the compartment. Remus went to the Prefect compartment and I went to the Heads' compartment. I was excited to see Lily's reaction to me being the Head Boy. 

*LILY POV*

The girls and I got a compartment and started catching up with one another. I then just remembered that I had to go to the Heads' compartment to meet the Head Boy. I bid the girls goodbye and left. 

While walking I got lost in my thoughts. I was really hoping the HB would be somebody I could work with. For instance, Remus. Even thought he was a Marauder  he had a thirst for knowledge that I could relate to. 

I also hoped it wouldn't be someone like Severus Snape or Amos Diggory. I hated Snape and Diggory was just plain annoying. 

I was snapped out of my thoughts by a voice.

"Alright, Evans".

*JAMES POV*

"Alright, Evans" I said to her. She had walked in the compartment but didn't seem to notice me. She seemed distracted. 

Her reaction was priceless. She just stood there with her mouth hanging open. I chuckled to myself and said "Your mouth might catch flies, Evans".

She closed and opened her mouth a few times but words failed her. I decided to talk anyway.

"I know how you feel. I was shocked too. But if you don't wanna work with me then I can return the badge" I said, feeling put out.

*LILY POV*

Potter was acting all innocent and for once I didn't feel like hexing him. Dumbledore has finally lost it. That's all I could think of when he interrupted my thoughts.

"I know how you feel. I was shocked too. But if you don't wanna work with me then I can return the badge" Potter said. He looked a bit sad. I said " Ummm.... I think Dumbledore would have a reason to choose you so since we are going to be spending a lot of time with each other we should be friends". 

Potter's frown turned into one of the biggest smiles I've ever seen. I smiled at his reaction and said "Come on. We have a prefect meeting to attend".

Potter and I talked while going to the Prefect Compartment. He made me laugh and I enjoyed his company. 

Once we reached the compartment, Potter winked at me. For some reason a weird feeling in my stomach arose. I forgot about and walked in.

*JAMES POV*

Lily and I walked towards the Prefect Compartment while talking. Her laugh was not obnoxious or loud but pretty and light. Her eyes stood out and don't get me started on her personality. I had promised myself to move on because she didn't like me but I just couldn't. She was just perfect.

Now that we are friends, I hope we will become closer than that but I can't raise my hopes too high just yet. 

We stopped right outside the prefect compartment. I winked at her and opened the door.
