"Ready?" I asked Aunt Robin from outside the bathroom.

"Almost!" she yelled back. I sighed, looking at my phone for what felt like the millionth time.

"Ready!" Aunt Robin yelled after 10 minutes.

"Ok. Just to make sure. We just need clothes layers and drinks?"

"Yeah. I have the tickets on my phone and we'll get the passes when we get there," I paused.

"What passes?"

"Did I not tell you? We have on the field passes. Courtesy of my son." she smiled.

"That's- so cool! I've never been in the field for an event, like ever!" I beamed.

"Well you are now. Let's get going, we don't wanna get stuck in traffic." Aunt Robin motioned for me to leave.

"We have all the stuff, right?" I asked.

"Yep! Didn't forget a thing."

*time skip to getting into the game brought to you by Justin Herbert assuming that someone is a flamingo 🦩*

"Wow." I gasped, stepping onto the field. I had never been on such a professional field. The closest I've been in is Joe's small, high school's field. This is a major step up.

"Cool isn't it?" a man's voice asked. I turned to see Ja'Marr. I ran towards him.

"Hi Ja'Marr! Great to see you again!" I gave him a hug, which he gladly accepted.

"You ready for the game?" he asked me.

"I should be asking you that question. But the answer is yes." I laughed.

"That sweatshirt looks familiar, is that Joe's?" Ja'Marr smirked. I looked down at my sweatshirt, I totally forgot I had his sweatshirt on.

"Oh, yeah. It is." I said, not really wanting to talk about Joe.

"Well, sorry to cut the conversation short but that old guy on the bench needs me. See ya later." Ja'Marr said.

"You're all good! Now, go kick some Tiger ass!" I laughed, gaining some of my energy back.

"Will do!" he shouted back. I walked back toward Aunt Robin. She had a smug grin plastered on her face.

"So, do you and Ja'Marr have something going on?" Aunt Robin wiggled her eyebrows at me.

"What?! No! We're friends. We only met a few days ago."

"That's what they all say." Aunt Robin sighed. I rolled my eyes. Suddenly, a ball came flying towards us. I easily caught it and waited for the person who needed it. Then, Joe came, looking for the ball.

"Oh, uh hi y/n." I didn't expect to see him this early.

"Hey Joe." I said.

"Hi Joey! Your gonna do so good this game! I feel it." Joe's mom gave Joe a big hug.

"Thanks mom." Joe smiled.

"See you two later." Joe forced a smile and waved. He walked back to his teammates.

"What was that all about?" Aunt Robin asked.

"What?"

"Between you and Joe. It felt.. off."

"There's nothing wrong. Don't worry." I lied.

The game went on as it should. LSU was beating Clemson at halftime 21-17. I decided to grab a soft pretzel cause I was hungry. I went inside and went in line to get the pretzel. I got up to the counter and ordered my pretzel. I was about to pay when someone interrupted me.

"Your total is $4.87." the woman behind the counter said.

"Here." a hand reached out and handed the lady a five dollar bill. I looked at the mysterious person, it was Joe. He was in his cleats, jersey, pads; the whole package. The lady handed me my pretzel, eyes wide.

"Oh, and keep the change." Joe winked. The lady blushed, even though she was significantly older than him. I walked away, Joe following me.

"What are you doing up here?" I asked Joe, slightly angry.

"To see you, darling." he winked. I'm used to the charm, so I didn't blush.

"Your personality really changed from earlier to now, you know that." I informed him.

"We'll maybe I'm a changed man, is that ok with you or?" Joe asked.

"No it's actually not ok with me. You decided to have a changed attitude at halftime. Then, come up here to 'discuss' with me? I don't think so buddy. In the middle of your game, might I add."

"But why?" Joe pouted.

"Look behind you." I said, motioning behind me. Joe looked behind him to see a crowd of people with their phones out. When Joe turned around the entire crowd squealed, which was probably heard all the way on the field.

"Follow me." Joe took my hand and started running to God knows where. People were chasing us, which gave me a slight wave of anxiety. Then I remembered that Joe had my hand, and didn't have a thought of letting go.

We got to a door that said 'Employees Only'. I didn't even get process that when Joe scooped me up bridal style and ran down the steps.

"Joseph Lee Burrow! Put me down!" I squealed as Joe trotted down the stairs with me in his arms. Once we got to, I don't even know where, he placed me down.

"Can we talk now?" he asked.

"Well, you did just pull me through a crowd of people. So sure. But, you have t minus 8 minutes, make it quick." I said, looking at my phone for the time.

"Ok. So, I love you, I really do. That's why I did all of that in the dorm. I've never loved a girl more than I love you. And I mean that. We've been friends since we were babies! I don't know anyone, besides my family, better then you. But, I understand if you don't want to do it right now. We live so far and we both have careers we're focusing on. But, can we at least be as close as we were before all this shit happened?" Joe pleaded.

"Joe, I love you, with all my heart. But, you're right. I think we shouldn't date. I think we should be best friends, maybe after college we could try to date again. But for right now, let's just be close." I told him. A tear fell from Joe's eye.

"I understand. I miss kissing you. I miss everything our relationship was. But, I feel the same way."

"I miss everything about our relationship too." I looked at Joe's lips and he looked at mine.

"Can I kiss you?" Joe asked.

"Please." I sniffled. He pulled me in and we embraced in a desperately-needed kiss. We pulled away and held hands.

"Promise you'll wait for me. For when I'm ready." I sniffled, as tears were streaming down my face.

"Promise." Joe said, squeezing my hands in reassurance.

"Now, go out there and win." I smiled and swatted his shoulder.

"Will do." he winked and ran off towards the field.

Joe kept his word, he beat Clemson in a nail bitter 31 to 28. We went back to my hotel room to grab my bags and Aunt Robin grabbed hers from her room. We all drove to the airport and said our goodbyes. Joe and his mom said their goodbyes, now it was my turn. Joe embraced me in a bear hug.

"Promise?" he asked as he pulled away. His hands were on my shoulders as he was looking down on me.

"Promise." I looked up at him, smiling. Aunt Robin and I waved to Joe as we boarded our flight.

That was one eventful trip.
