Chapter 10

"Absolutely not" He hisses, crossing his arms at your words. You both were standing in front of Bruno's tower, and he offered to join you inside so you have some moral support as you tell everything to his tio, you declined, telling him to wait out here for you instead

"But—" You began explaining 

"Don't want to hear it" He huffs and shakes his head

"Camilo" You began "Look, I atleast want to try by myself"

"I said I'd be by your side" He reminded

"And you are," You answered "Please? Stay out here, I want to talk to Tio Bruno myself"

He met your eyes just to sigh and nod "Fine" He finally relents "Yell if you need me"

You snort "Why is tio Bruno gonna hit me?" You asked sarcastically. He looks at you unamused, and you pressed your lips together, "Sorry"

He reaches out to hold you by the shoulder "Are you really sure, you wanna do this yourself?"

You nod "Yeah"

"Alright," he says "If you need me, I'll be out here" he kisses the back of your hand as a silent goodluck and you smiled softly before pulling away

Knocking against Bruno's tower you announced yourself "Tio Bruno?" You called "Its Y/n! I'm coming in" You said just before walking inside

It wasn't your first time heading in here, you remembered the regret and annoyance you felt when you realized that Bruno's room had inhumane amount of stairs. You remembered how you wished for Elevators or Escalators to be invented in here.

You took a deep breath as you started climbing the staircase up to his cave. 

"Y/n!" Bruno greets and hugs you when you finally climbed up the stairs and catching your breath "Mija, what are you doing here?"

You smiled and hugged back despite the severe lack of oxygen from the panting "Wait, need air" You heaved and he laughs pulling away so you try and breathe "Tio!" You called once you finally have enough oxygen in your lungs

"hey, kid" He laughs again "What are you doing here?" He asks walking inside a room

"Did I come at a bad time?" You followed after

"No, I was in the middle of watching something" He answers and motioned to his rats

"Rat Telanovelas?" You asked and he hums, "I wanted to talk to you about something, can you pause?"

"Pause?" he repeats, word unfamiliar

"Um," You cleared your throat "Can we talk for a minute, Tio?"

He stares at you and then nods "Sure, what's wrong?"

You took in a deep inhale "To begin with..." 

"That's a lot of information in one go, kid" He says looking down at his hands after you told him

You looked down at your own hands "I'm sorry" You whispered

"Its not your fault" He answers and moves so he can sit beside you "Look, I believe you, and I understand you." You looked at him "I just wish you told me sooner, I could help you find a way back"

You looked at him "I don't want to go back" 

He looks at you surprised "You, Don't?"

"No" You answered "That's why I'm telling you this, Tio. I want to stay here with the family, I'm happy here but I won't be happy if I still have secrets" You took a deep breath to tell him more of your thoughts "I love the family, Camilo, Casita. I'm sorry for lying, I know you might not forgive me or like me afterwards but I still wanted you to know"
