The Eternals were put on this earth to protect and defend. Though Ira sometimes found just how controversial that sounded at times. Despite Ajak telling him they were doing everything they were supposed to, Ira always felt like they weren't doing enough, always felt a strange sense of restless energy that accompanied him whenever the Eternals were 'done' defeating the deviants and were no longer expected to intervene with human development.

"We can kill deviants but as soon as a war breaks out we're not allowed to do anything?" Ira had asked when the first war between humans began. It seemed that now that they had access to the basic resources needed to survive, they had become greedy with want and had challenged other tribes for their goods.

Ira was sitting on a stone slab, the heated sun beating down on his back as cries of war and anguish and fighting sounded from just miles away.

"This does not involve us." Ajak had said calmly, sitting down elegantly beside him and placing a graceful yet sturdy hand on his shoulder. "This was started between the humans and will end between them too. Don't forget, this is how the hu-"

Ajax didn't need to finish her sentence. Ira knew exactly what she was going to say. "Human race develops yeah, I get it." They have heard the speech about a dozen times already and Ira guessed he would be hearing it millions more given they were only at the dawn of human evolution and this was just the beginning of it all.

He sighed and stood up, relishing in the small offering of wind created by the motion.

"Thanks, Ajak." He said, calling out over his shoulder as he sauntered away. The woman didn't really help him with anything but he still felt obliged to thank her.

"Be careful!" He heard her call out as he moved forward. Ira just scoffed and rolled his shoulders. The Eternals had only just met some years ago but they already acted like family, knowing exactly why they were here in the first place and that they would always face the deviants head on together.

Ikaris and Sersi seemed to be getting along well, Ira having glanced a few stolen looks shared between the pair when they thought no one was looking. And though relatively new to his environments, Ira could tell immediately that the two were bound to end up together, even if the look in both their eyes were uncertain of what true feelings really lay before them, awaiting grabs.

Thena and Gilgamesh were another pair that seemed drawn together like magnets. And Ira always loved watching their relationship develop, how Gilgamesh would always grow extremely protective when a deviant got too close to Thena or one of the other Eternals in general.

Sprite was drawn to everyone, making her presence known every time she walked into an area but it seemed she had taken a liking to Ira and he wasn't complaining.

Ajak was like a mother to Ira and Sprite was like his little sister. The Eternals were his extended family- although not by blood, but that didn't mean anything different. He was content— for now.

But that feeling was slowly fading, diminishing until he could no longer feel it within the clasps of his fingers. Each day he was forced to watch and wait as humans fought themselves and shed their own blood instead of making compromises or setting aside their need for bloodshed long enough to see that none of what is to come is worth it.

Ira could feel the emotions running high; could feel them like a coarse wood against his palm, felt as though if he were to reach high enough, that he would be able to clasp the emotions within his fingers and hold onto it for as long as he wanted. And he could. That's why he was out here after all.

Each Eternal had their own gift, their own strength. Ira's just happened to be emotion manipulation and though he had only been navigating his capabilities and what he could do with this power, he had discovered enough to find just how useful- and unforgiving it could be.
