TENOCHTITLANTW blood
Gone were the hours of peace that stretched on for years, hundreds even if no new deviants resurfaced. Gone was the strange peace that accompanied Ira when he was training with Sprite or paying a round of the Game of Ur after a long day. Now, peace seemed but a foreign concept as war rang out around them.
This was nothing like what Ira was coming to know at little banters between tribes fighting over a piece of land. This was pure unbridled war, done with a means to wipe out the Aztec Empire completely. There were so many emotions, not one forming a clear direction of anger but all of them combined made the effect dizzying. Ira could no longer point out which emotion belonged to who as it was all just a mess of overwhelming feelings that stabbed at Ira from the inside out despite its nonphysical form.
"Where are the others?" Ajak asked as Ira joined them in the woods bordering the empire. He was panting slightly. The last deviant he had been eliminating had put up more of a fight. Or so, that's what Ira said to himself, lied to himself. He would never know if that deviant was simply stronger than the others or if all the emotions raging wild around him had something to do with his delayed success in finally slaughtering the deviant. He brushed the idea off and tried to convert the pent-up emotions into something tamer, something more manageable.
'We had to split up' Makkari signed in time with Ira who had also responded.
"There were more deviants than you said," Thena said. One might take it accusingly but the woman was almost smiling.
"Well, I'm sure that was a lot of fun for you," Phastos said, creating a holographic earth sprung from a gold disc of his own creation that hovered just over his palm, the majority of it colored gold.
"It was." She said, smug
"Once the others kill the last deviants, we will have eliminated them all from the planet." Phastos said, showing the last spot where the deviants resided here that was subsequently rimmed with a green ring.
Gunshots sounded. More than what Ira was used to hearing. Following it was the sound of accompanying cries of both fear from those fleeing and rage from those in pursuit. Fire lit up the forest as men ran through the trunks of narrow trees, their torches lighting the way. Men with guns fired and the sound of falling bodies was so painstakingly audible that Ira felt he could almost hear the last dying breath of each of the fallen men before they met their demise on the unforgiving terrain that was earth.
Ira took a shuddering breath in, trying once more to tame the emotions that were running too rampant; so freely that he didn't even think he had a choice to decide if he wanted to absorb them or not. There were too many at once so his body had decided to do the work for him.
Druig noticed Ira tense and clench his fists beside him, obviously fighting with himself. The world went still as Druig moved his body to face the war beyond, his hooded eyes glossy with a thick layer of gold. A thrum of energy made itself apparent as he did so. This many men in such a short period of time--it was understandable.
"Don't." Ajak warned before he could control anyone. Druig glanced over at Ira before letting the color fade from his eyes. He showed no defeat but that didn't mean he didn't want to strangle something then and there. "Don't interfere in their wars." She said.
"This isn't war." Druig retorted, his voice lacking the natural evenness he seemed to hold when speaking. This time, his voice quivered slightly as he tried to reason with Ajak. Ajak who could do no wrong.
"He's right." Ira spoke up from beside, his own voice still even but lacking its usual emotion to the point where even Druig was mightily concerned. For someone who had been around feelings and emotions their entire life, Ira seemed to have so little right now. "It's genocide."
