The next day you two behaved as though nothing occurred. He wouldn't look at you, not even once. You felt deep embarrassment feeling perhaps you had gone too far..

He was just being nice in the first place.

You each went on with your daily duties.

Farnese wanted you out on the trails with her to rally up crowds of people. You dreaded the idea yet obeyed her orders.

Serpico watched wanting to interfere but couldn't.

He knew of the mental turmoil this would have on you.

You certainly didn't belong here.

As the sun came down you limped back inside the dreadful building. Many of the other knights were on their way to their rooms and poked fun at your state.

The humour was not returned as you went straight for your room.

Serpico was nowhere in sight.

A light tap came at your door around 12am.

You slowly limped for your door to see his shadow looming there in the doorway.

You felt consoled just seeing him come back to you.

His face shifted when he saw how beaten up you were.

"What happened?!" He rushed in closing the door behind him. He pulled your arm over his neck and helped you back to the bed to sit.

You refused to say anything as you kept your head low. You knew that if you got started you wouldn't be able to stop. Besides, you had nothing nice to say about the woman he so dearly protected.

".. did you not receive medical attention." He asked in a tone that scared you a little.

"No." you answered bluntly drawing his attention. He paused as he put together what had happened.

"Farnese.."

He wasn't pleased about this.

"Tell me what happened." He ordered in a way that startled you. Was he... angry?

"We uncovered a Herat...." you cut yourself short.
"We uncovered a regular household and she demanded that I restrain them." You corrected your wording. The people were innocent, everyone in this stupid organization should realize that by now. They are not "heretics".

"I was greatly outnumbered and the men of the house attacked me."

You failed to notice how he clenched his fists while he listened.

"Lady Farnese provoked them and then hid behind me. Don't worry. I took all the beating until back up arrived that is.." you looked away gritting your teeth. You wanted to say more but stopped yourself in his presence.

Serpico watched you in silence for a moment. He decidedly came closer kneeling to get a look at your wounds.

You lowered your head allowing it as Serpico gently lifted your pant leg. He let out a small sigh seeing your whole leg was substantially bruised.
