Serpico x Reader Part 4

From then on things were ever strange..

You were stuck alone with Lady Farnese and Serpico.

She seemed to have figured something out because every time she looked over at you; it was with a glare.

She wanted to order Serpico to kill you at once.. or at least beat you with her whip..

If Serpico weren't here right now... you thought curling your lip and glancing away.

Farnese had decided we were not to return to the holy city. She wanted to go after the black swordsman.

Serpico was completely against it but she reminded him just who was in charge.

Great now you and Serpico would be forced to confront him while she hid behind you both you thought.

Wherever this path lead it was growing ever colder..

You were so deep in your thoughts you hardly took notice.

You felt something warm as you looked up to see Serpico wordlessly drape his coat over your shoulders.

 When you glanced up you noticed Farnese only looked further ticked off.

She snatched him by the shirt and rudely jerked him off to the side of the road. 

"Do you not remember what I told you earlier?! You are mine. You belong to me and serve only me" she emphasized as though you couldn't hear her perfectly.

She was about to strike him and yell at him to kill you when he suddenly moved.

To both of your surprise Serpico swatted her hand from out of his face and walked on ahead.

That night was ever awkward..

Farnese left to go for a bathroom break and you noticed Serpico staring from across the way.

Your eyes diverted not wanting to be involved if he were already pledged to another woman..

"You have it wrong you know" he broke the silence.

"Chh" you sighed under your breath not wanting to hear it.

"She is my sister" he broke the silence.

Your eyes widened as you looked at him in disbelief.

"She does not know. There is nothing romantic anyway. I am her servant" he explained.

You were at a loss for words.

How could she not know? Why hadn't he told her? Why act as her servant when he could be her respected equal?! You had so many questions.

He sighed.

"It's more complicated than it seems, I just wanted you to know" he drifted aware that you were under a different impression.

The annoyance left your face as you stared at the fire quietly. It made a lot more sense why he were so protective.

"How is your leg?" he suddenly asked.

"It's fine" you lied to please him. He didn't fully believe you but fell silent when Lady Farnese returned.

"Serpico! Get closer to the fire, it is freezing out here" she demanded.

You looked up curiously as he thought of some excuse regarding guard duty.

She insisted further until he awkwardly came over to sit with his back to the flames.

You and Farnese exchanged a confused look.

From then on you were a little less angry toward Lady Farnese. Deep down you'd always resent her for the heretic hunts though..

Her reckless actions forced people like you to bloody their hands of innocent people on her account. You'd always have to live with that..
