It's a rainy day - the weather I always eagerly await, but exactly the kind of weather that Bella hates. We see Dad coming back with Bella's truck.
"Oh!" Bella slips, and I burst out laughing so hard that my knees become weak, and my stomach starts to hurt. Man, I really do laugh a lot. Dad gets out of the truck and helps Bella back up.
"At least help your sister, Y/N/N," he says, trying not to laugh as well.
"I'm good. Ice doesn't help the uncoordinated," she replies when Dad asks if she's okay.
"Yeah, that's why I, uh, had some new tires put on the truck. The old ones were getting pretty bald."
"Cool!" I reply and get into the passenger's seat, rolling down my window to let the cool air in.
"Well, probably be late for dinner. I gotta head down to Mason County. A security guard at the Grisham Mill got killed by some kind of animal.
"Are you sure it's an animal?"
"An animal?" Bella asks.
"You're not in Phoenix anymore, Bells," he gets in his car. "Anyway, I figured I'd lend a hand."
"Be careful," we say at the same time.
"Always am," he replies."And thanks for the tires," Bella says.
"Yeah." Bella gets in, and we drive to school. I gaze at the wet roads, the green trees, and the moss on rocks. It's all so beautiful. As we arrive at school, the rain starts pouring. Looking at my timetable, I realize I have Bio, History, Art, and three proxies - not the most exciting classes, but at least I'll have plenty of free time after getting home. Finally, History ends, and I step out of the class to head to Art. That's when I spot THE Edward Cullen - he's finally back.
"Hey! Ed!" I call out to him, and he looks at me. I walk towards him as he waits for me too.
"Hey, Y/N..." he says quietly."Having a hard time figuring Bella out?" I ask him.
"Um, yeah, you as well, but not that much." I laugh.
"Because I'm not human?"
"Yeah." He shrugs.
"Okay, well, I gotta head to Art. I'll see ya later!""Yeah, sure." He smiles. I return the gesture and head to Art.
"Finally," I sigh under my breath. Three proxies were the most boring classes, no new learning, nothing fun. I complete all my homework, which means I'll have a lot of free time after getting home.
"Hey, Isabella," I greet her.
"Don't call me that. Ever," she says, almost cutting off my sentence.
"Gotcha." She looks back and stares at someone. I follow her gaze and see Edward and her having a weird stare-off. She looks back to the front, and suddenly, we hear tires screech on the road, coming straight towards Bella.
"WATCH OUT!" I exclaim, rushing in front of her and pushing the car with my magick. Edward comes just in time and blocks us from the car, Bella in particular; both of us making a huge dent in the van. Hopefully, no one saw me do that. I can read everyone's thoughts, and no one saw anything - except the Cullens - Phew! I step out of the way, and suddenly, everyone starts crowding around Bella.
"C'mon," I hear Edward calling me. I look at Bella and then back at Edward. We reach where the rest of the Cullens are standing.
"Are you alright? Why did you do that?!"
"At least my sister's not dead," I say under my breath."You aren't either, fortunately," and she hugs me. I hug her back.
"I, uh, I should go to the back, take her to the hospital and stuff."
"You can't drive without a license. And your father is a cop, Y/N." Rosalie reminds me.
"Ah, shit, yeah." I nod in agreement.
