It's Complicated

Chapter 5

They both were walking on the side walk with an awkward tension between them. This situation was new to both of them. Before Maya andrew never introduced any of his girlfriends to his family and same was with maya. She never had a serious relationship before in which she had to meet family members of her partner. That's when carina decided to break the silence between them.

"So how does it feel, to be on the top, I mean you are going to marry Andrea, and he owns the company, so basically you also would be the owner, and would run the deluca household what my mother you used to do." Carina looked towards maya with a very serious face while continue walking.

Maya didn't expect this, this thought never even crossed her mind. She stopped and contemplated what to say.

"Carina, I..I.. I'm not marrying andrew for his money or his position in the company. I really like him and we respect each other. And I am definitely not trying to take you mother's place in the family and that never was my intention." Maya was trying to clear any doubts Italian had as she was really an important person to andrew.

Carina was trying to look serious but then she starting laughing. Maya was confused at brunette's reaction.

"I'm sorry maya, I was just messing with you. I have never been in this situation so I was just trying to break the ice you know. I do not doubt you, I know you are the best person for Andrea trust me whenever he talks to me he never stop telling how lucky he is that he found you." Carina was trying to assure maya. But maya felt offended at this joke.

She knew how hard she worked to come at this place but always has to go through the scrutiny of people since she start dating andrew.

Carina picked her mood and again apologized.

"Look we have arrived at the cafe why don't you let me buy you a coffee as an apology." Carina wiggled her eyebrows as she opened the door for maya. Maya just nodded as she still felt uneasy around carina.

They looked for the space in the cafe and found a table for two at the corner near the window. That seated down.

"So what would you like to have?" Carina asked Maya while she was going through the menu. "I don't know, I have never came to this place, so I don't know what's good here, what do you suggest?

"Well then I m going to order for both of us then". Carina asked for waiter to come and take their order. "Two caffè caramel macchiato please."

After waiter took their order carina tried to ease the blonde. "You know maya you can relax around me, you look so winded up right now. I just wanted to end the awkwardness earlier and now I think I have made the situation worse."

"Oh no, I am sorry, I know you are right, it's just I also have never been in this type of situation and I don't know what to talk about." Maya reassured carina.

"Well maya bishop we can start by you telling me something about you. Where are you from, who are your friends, what do you do when you don't boss people around the company."

"Uhmm Yeaah I am not from L.A. I was born in Seattle, I came to L.A. when I was fourteen. I don't have many friends just Andy. She is basically my sister we grew up together since we were 10 years old. She is a firefighter as she always wanted to be like her father and I usually hang out with her firefighter friends when I want to relax as I do not usually have much time with all the work, especially after I started dating andrew." Maya summarized her whole life while leaving some things behind.

Carina knew maya was holding something but she didn't want to pressure her. While they were talking their order arrived and they had their coffee. They talked for a while they were finishing their Coffee. "So do you like the coffee or it was not upto your taste?" Carina smirked while asking.
