I stood in the nearby field as the quinjet softly landed on the green grass. I watched as the door opened and Phil walked down. It was only August, yet, the wind was as cold as Californian December.

I walked over to him and nodded at Fury, he nodded back, I look back at Phil and wrapped my arms around his neck as I felt his arms loop around my waist.

"Thank you, Phil." I whispered and gently pulled away. He smiled back. I shivered at the lack of heat I shared with him and I felt him do the same.

"It's cold, huh?"

I rolled my eyes, "Welcome to Canada." I looked back at Fury, "Thanks for getting him to me. Want to stop for dinner?"

"Thanks for the offer but I have something to do."
I nodded and the quinjet door closed.

I slipped my hand into Phil's and led him towards the car. "How are you doing?"

"I -," I took a quivering breath and looked at him, "I don't know." He squeezed my hand.

"It's just - ," I sighed and stood beside the black car, "We - we haven't known each other that long and aren't you supposed to have a relationship before you have a kid. I just-,"

"Melinda, we've known each other for almost a decade. And I love you." He squeezed my hand, "You stayed by my side when I was stressed about an exam and even when I was being a complete asshole." I shook my head.

"I can't -" I looked down, "My mother's waiting for us." I whispered.

He nodded and walked over to the other side of the car. I slipped into the driver's seat and pulled out of the gravel road. My phone rang and I sighed as I looked at the caller ID.  I nodded for Phil to answer and he cautiously did so.

"Put it on speaker." He did so just in time for me to hear my mom's question.

"Who are you with?"

I sighed, "Phil."

"Hello Philip."

"Mrs. May."

"How long till you both arrive?"

"An hour." I could hear her sigh.

"Fine. See you when you're here."

I nodded and Phil ended the call. He looked at me, "It does not take an hour to get to your moms house."

"I didn't want to go home right away."

"Okay."

"How's your leg?"

"Melinda," I could hear the teasing in his tone so I interrupted.

"That's not what I meant. You know that."

"I know." He placed his hand over my own, "So what are we doing for... 30 extra minutes?"

"We can just talk." I nodded.

"So..."

I sighed and turned right on Mavis Street, "We're gonna be parents." I stated.

"We are, you sure about this?"

"Nope. You?"

"Actually, yes." I raised an eyebrow at him, "With you, absolutely."

"Oh, you're a dork." I let myself smile.

"I know." He smiled back, "So the baby is how old?"

"Since the mission, right? That was what? 2 months? 3 months?"

I took a deep breath, "Well, that explains me getting sick." I said under my breath.

"Sick? When were you sick?" I bit my lip, "You didn't tell me."

"I had other things on my mind, Phil."

"When?" I could hear the guilt in his voice.

I nibbled on my bottom lip, "The day I got the call." I whispered.

"The call? What call?"

"When you were in the hospital."

"Oh. Oh. I didn't -," I scoffed.

"Of course, you didn't. I didn't tell you." He nodded, "It's why I went to my mothers in the first place. There was a time when I couldn't keep food down for more than a few hours."

"I'm sorry - I - I wasn't there."

I scoffed, "Nobody could change anything. You were in the hospital. Don't blame yourself. It was my choice to leave and I did. It wasn't any of our fault."

"Melinda, that night.."

"Okay, lemme stop you right there. That night was amazing. It was the best I've ever had. Amazing, wonderful, unprotected sex. I don't regret this," I nodded towards my flat belly, "But - But I wish we would've waited."

He sighed and rubbed my shoulder, instantly wincing as he did, I raised my eyebrows in worry.

"I'm fine. Don't worry." That did not soothe my worry anymore, he knew, "Just moved too fast. Wound's still healing." He pointed to his shoulder. I nodded. The worry decreased but didn't go away. It could never go away.

I looked at him at the red light, "Want some coffee?"

"Please."

I pulled into the Tim Hortons' Drive thru and rolled my window down.

"Hey, what can I get for you today?"

"Uhm, I'll have a green tea and a black coffee. No milk or sugar."

"Okay, drive down." I rolled my window back up.

"I haven't been to Tim Hortons' since when? The Academy?"

I scoffed, "Really been that long?"

"Yes."

I shook my head and rolled my window back down. Dropping a ten dollar bill, I nodded at the cashier as they wished me a good day.

"Here you go." I passed the coffee cup to Phil and sipped my green tea. I put it aside as I started to drive.

Driving into my mom's driveway, I took a deep breath and faced Phil.

I let my gaze slip lower and instantly regretted it. However, my heart thought different. Against better judgement, I bent over to him and kissed him. He froze but soon gave in. I felt his smile as I deepened the kiss by only a little. I hummed into the kiss and pulled apart with a smile.

"That was -," I panted.

"Good."

I smirked, "C'mon. My mother probably knows we're outside."

"Yeah, just-," He pulled me into a soft kiss and I smiled. I hummed and pulled apart.

"We seriously gotta go."

"I'm scared of your mother." He admitted, "What if she doesn't let me stay?"

I rolled my eyes, "Don't worry."

"I got you." I smiled at him and bit my lip.

I got you. Always and Forever.
