Previously.
After going through all the realization, he returns his eyes to his student, Lan Wangji, and this time, it felt so much different now. How has he not noticed it before? Has Lan Wangji always looked at him this way, with soulful eyes and utmost devotion?
"Lan Zhan,"
"Welcome home."

Wei Wuxian is beyond speechless right now. How does Lan Wangji expect him to react? Yes, he had already felt it a very long time ago. Ever since he was just a boy, he knew he was different. It was not normal for a young boy to see supernatural beings, much more talk to them. Interacting with spirits is already ridiculous; things like seeing past events in his sleep was another. At one point, these unsettling behaviours disappeared, and he lived an ordinary life. A life that only belonged to him. Of course, until he entered Jinlin University as a Literature Professor.
Though in Jinlin University, spirits or ghosts were not a threat. In fact, the university seemed voided of those impurities, but what struck Wei Wuxian was the comeback of those strange dreams that may or may not belong to him.
And guess what, it seemed to trigger more often whenever he is around a particular individual - Lan Wangji.
And what did Lan Wangji just confess to him? That he firmly believed that the two of them were husbands from the past? And honestly, Wei Wuxian cannot find any excuses not to believe that because that seemed to be the only explanation for why he's harbouring these emotions towards this younger man.
It seemed to explain a lot why he couldn't keep his eyes off Lan Wangji, how his mouth goes dry whenever he realizes he misses him when he wakes up from his nightmares. It all seemed to make sense. All of these emotions he couldn't explain fit right in with the way Lan Wangji looks at him right now - with eyes full of unspoken affection.
"H-how do you live with his memories?" Wei Wuxian asked despite the constriction in his throat. How long had Lan Wangji been living his life with someone else's past haunting him? "How long have you been remembering?"
"My whole life," Lan Wangji honestly replied, "But it did not make sense until I first saw you face to face." That day in his older brother, Director Lan's, office. That was the first time he gazed so closely into Professor Wei's eyes that it struck him that all those hazy dreams are, in fact, past events of their first lives together.
Things hadn't been the same for him since.
Wei Wuxian heaved a deep breath, trying to calm the panic in his chest. He stepped back as he said in a shaky voice, "Bear with me a bit, Lan Zhan," He raised a pointing finger towards his student, shaking his head, "Let's say reincarnations are real, and you and I remember the past, but we are two separate individuals now, both living our own lives. What I'm trying to say is-" Wei Wuxian paused as he noticed that Lan Wangji's face looked gloomy, his smile fading. "Why are you pouting all of a sudden?" He snarled.
