It was an early morning.A young man was standing in the deck of the ship. His eyes showed a lot of happiness as he is returning to his motherland. Yes he is our Anirudh Roy Chaudhary. Anirudh left India when he was 17. So he knew the adversities that women faced in the name of tradition. He wanted to do something for empowering the women of his nation. Soon the ship reached the port.
As soon as departing from the ship Anirudh touched the soil of his motherland with his forehead. He was excited to see his family. He started to his home by a bullock cart standing nearby.
In RC Haveli
Kaka was sitting in the hall reading his Bengali newspaper. Binoy was reading his English newspaper.Batuk was playing with his toys sitting on the threshold. Bihari was monitoring him. Suddenly Batuk looked towards the road hearing the sound of bullock cart. He squealed in joy seeing his Dada getting down from the cart. He ran towards Anirudh screaming "Anirudh Dada " . Anirudh dropped his luggage and took Batuk in his arms and swirled him in the air and gave a peck on his cheeks and left him down . Batuk giggled in happiness and ran inside the haveli to call Som and others. Already Bihari has informed everyone about Anirudh's arrival. Kaka and Binoy ran to the threshold. Koyeli did Aarti for Anirudh . Anirudh got blessing from Kaka and Binoy . Som who came there with Batuk hugged Anirudh. Thus they enjoyed the arrival of their eldest son.
Next morning Kaka was doing the Pooja. Anirudh does not believe all this but he joined the Pooja for Kaka's sake. After Pooja everyone went to the dining area. While having their breakfast, Binoy started the conversation
Binoy: Anirudh I have planned your wedding with Saudamini, my Business partner's daughter. She is your childhood friend so I think you'll be happy with my decision.
Before Anirudh could say anything , Kaka interrupted
Kaka : Binoy I am not happy with your decision. I don't want Saudamini to become the bahu of our family.And about Anirudh's marriage I have already chosen the bride but I was just waiting for Anirudh to arrive.
Anirudh felt relieved because he knew about Saudamini that she was dreaming to get settled in London and he didn't want to leave India. Also he had no feelings for her. But Kaka's words made him stumbled. He thought he could visit the bride's house and make her understand.
Binoy: But da...
Kaka: No buts Binoy. My decision is final today we are going to visit the bride. Anirudh get ready.
Binoy: Do whatever you want.
Binoy adjusted his specs. Binoy knew that his da's decision will be for good. But he didn't show that.
Anirudh thought he got a good opportunity. He thought that he will explain the bride about him.
After breakfast Kaka and Anirudh got ready and were about to leave but suddenly Batuk stopped them.
Batuk: Dada I will also come with you.
Kaka: No Batuk ,you stay in home
Batuk: Kaka pleaseeee
He pleased with his cute baby face. They got melted by his cuteness and agreed him to accompany them.
Devipur
After completing the accounts in the temple Bondita returned to her home. Sumati was preparing lunch. Bondita back hugged her
Bondita: Ma I am soooo hungry.
Sumati : Bondita first go and freshen up yourself . Without getting freshen up you must not lay your hands on food
Bondita: Maa
Sumati: Bondita
Bondita: Ok!
Bondita took a bath and got changed into a simple saree and made her long hair into a beautiful braid and kept a small bindi on her forehead. She was running towards the kitchen, suddenly she heard the honking sound of a motor gadi. Sumati also came out hearing the sound. Kaka,Anirudh and Batuk got down from the motor gadi .
Kaka: Namasthe.
Sumati: Ji Namasthe
Kaka: I am Trilochan Roy Chaudhary. They are my nephew Anirudh and Batuk. We are the Zameendars of Tulsipur. We are here to ask your daughter's hand in marriage for our Anirudh.
Bondita was shocked.Sumati was so happy that her daughter is going to get a good life.
Sumati: Ji come in.
They all went inside and sat in the cot that was placed in the hall. The house consisted only two rooms, a hall and a kitchen. But everything was organized properly. Kaka was delighted to see the well maintained home. But here our Bondita was still not out of the shock.
Sumati: Bondita go and bring some tea and snacks for them.
Bondita: Ji ma.
Bondita went inside the kitchen and prepared tea and kept some snacks on a tray and brought them to the hall. Still now Anirudh and Bondita didn't look at each other. Bondita served tea for Kaka and went towards Anirudh. The moment Anirudh saw her, he was mesmerized by the divine beauty standing in front of him. As soon as Bondita saw Anirudh she was enchanted by the handsome man in front of her.Without his knowledge he uttered "Beautiful" in English. Blush crept on Bondita's cheeks . And she replied "Thank you for your compliments" in English. Anirudh and Kaka was astonished .
Kaka: Beta do you know English?
Bondita: Yes uncle. I have studied till grade 10 when my Baba was alive.
Kaka: Oh achha achha.
Anirudh: Kaka I would like to talk with her alone.
Kaka: But Anirudh!
Anirudh: Please Kaka
Kaka: Accha tk.
Anirudh: Will you come with me.
Bondita: Yes( hesitantly)
Anirudh and Bondita went under a tree which stood near Bondita's home.
Anirudh: Hello my name is Anirudh. What is your name?
Bondita:My name is Bondita.
Anirudh: So Bondita, I would like to tell you something. I want to do something for empowering the women of our nation. And I also want to help our nation to get freedom. So if you are going to marry me then you must not expect me to drop all these ideas. And I want my wife to support me in my missions. Do you have any problem with it.
Bondita was impressed by Anirudh's ideologies. She saw her father's principles in him.
Bondita: I have no problem in it. But I have two conditions.
Anirudh: Tell me your conditions Bondita.
Bondita: I would like to continue my studies and I want to take my Ma along with me.
Anirudh was impressed by Bondita's conditions.
Anirudh: Yes Bondita surely you can continue your studies and you can also take your ma along with you.
Bondita: Thank you soooo much. I am ready for this marriage.
Anirudh: Then come we'll inform the elders about our consent.
Bondita: Ji come let's go.
They went inside and informed about their consent to their family.
