So we don't usually see many emotional Pjo fanfics. Like ones that talk about the turmoil of emotions that the demigods face after LITERALLY being forced to kill or be killed ever since they are adolescents. But this book changed that for me.

Secrets is a completed fanfic which happens after HoO. So, SPOILER ALERT! Jason is not dead. 🚨. It talks about Percy feeling depressed about the fact that so many demigods had to die. So many had to sacrifice themselves so that the others could live.

Percy cuts himself and as a person who has cut myself (I've been clean since this new year), I relate to it on a spiritual level. It talks about the intrusive thoughts that takes over your mind and the hands that MAKE you punish yourself for being happy.

It talks about the smile Percy puts on every morning before going out his cabin and the tears, nightmares and screams he releases every night in bed.

It talks about the feeling of worthlessness you feel and the hand that reaches for the penknife (or in Percy's case, Riptide) when you feel so numb you WANT to feel something.

It also talks about how depressed people actually WANT others to notice that they are not well and that they need help. He wants, like I do, someone to ask him once. Are you feeling well?

Jason, like the other demigods, think that Percy's life is perfect. The ending was frickin unexpected. It was something that we never would've thought of.

The book was pretty short. Just 17 chapters and took me around an hour of continuous reading to finish. But OH MY GODS it was great. The author manages to portray every emotion perfectly. And I think most people who has self harmed before will relate to it like I did. Even other people will definitely relate to some parts of this short fanfic.

Overall, one of the greatest PJO fanfic that I've ever read and definitely one of the top three.

Of course, trigger warnings for self harm, blood, blood, and suicidal tendencies.
