Prologue II

Kamsa, then lifted up the bow of Lord Vishnu and set the string. Then, he pulled the string as if it was a harp, hundred times. Each time he pulled, the strings made the noise as if thunder was striking. This noise echoed in the whole universe. The vibrations created were so ferocious that stars in the galaxy started falling down. Then, Kamsa put down his bow and bowed down to Lord Parshuram, and spoke the following words:
"O lord, I am servant of your servants, not any prince. O best among men, please spare me."

He said those humble words because he knew Lord Parshuram is stronger than him and can kill him. So, he pacified the Lord so that his life is spared.
Lord Parshuram, satisfied with Kamsa's humility, handed the bow to Kamsa. He spoke the following words:

"This bow belongs to Lord Vishnu. Only Lord Vishnu, himself can break it. And the person who breaks it will be the cause of your death."

Kamsa further continued to conquer the world. No king had the courage to battle him and surrendered to him immediately. Kamsa soon went to a sea shore. There a demon having form of a snake resided. His name was Aghasur.

The giant snake made an attempt to bite Kamsa. Kamsa also defeated Aghasur, just as he defeated other monsters and continued further. He then met Arisht, a demon in form of a bull.

Kamsa conquered this demon also. They fought as if one elephant fights with another. Using its horns, the bull lifted moutains and threw it on the prince. Kamsa used to catch that mountain as if it wasn't something too heavy and to threw it back at the bull. With one final punch, Kamsa conquered the demon too. Similarly he conquered Dhenkusura, the ass demon, Trnavarta, Bakasura, and Bakasura's sister, Putana. All these demons were mighty. Along with that, he defeated Sambhar, Vyomasura, Vatsasura and Kaalyavan.

Kamsa was very powerful. No one could kill him except Lord Vishnu. With sword, quiver, a hammer, mastering archery very well, Kamsa headed to attack the demigods. He took many of the demons with him. The demons and Kamsa, surrounded Amravatipura, the capital of Indra's (king of heaven) kingdom from the four sides. Seeing the demons' attempt to invade Amravatipura, Indra, along with other demigods were enraged. This caused a fierce battle between theists and atheists. Celestial weapons were released in the battle. These weapons were shining. Celestial arrows covered the sky, and darkness spread. Indra, seated on his chariot, invoked the mighty thunderbolt.

But, the mighty thunderbolt, cause of destruction for many, couldn't harm Kamsa. The demon counterattacked the thunderbolt. The attack of Indra was wasted. The thunderbolt fell on the battleground. The king of heaven, then, left the thunderbolt and took out his sword. He charged on the demon and his shining sword was slashed on Kamsa's head. Indra was very powerful, his sword was the cause of fear for many. But the mighty demon wasn't affected by that. It felt as if a tough elephant was being hit by a soft flower.

The king of demons took out his mace. He threw it on Indra. Indra, seeing the mace speeding up towards him, caught the weapon. He then threw it back at Kamsa. Warriors on both the sides were very powerful. They fought just as a lion fights with other lion. Kamsa soon, invoked his mighty weapon and with his full power attacked on Indra's shoulder. Indra fainted for some time, because of the vigorous attack. Then, the Maruts, assisted Indra and started shooting arrows one by one, just as black clouds of rainy season cover the sun. They had wings like that of a vulture and are sons of wind god, Vayu. Seeing this, the thousand-armed Banasur also took out his bow and started shooting arrows. This battle was so fierce that words fall short to describe it. The vasus, rudras, adityas, sages and other demigods attacked Banasur with their own different weapons, some with arrows, some with swords. This wasn't all, along with Pralambasur and other demons, Bhaumasura entered the scene, roaring like thunder. Many of the demigods fainted, just by hearing the powerful roar.

But, there was a good news too. Indra soon regained his consciousness. With red eyes of anger, Indra summoned Airavata, his white elephant. He sat on the elephant and ordered him to stomp on Kamsa. But, Kamsa had a benediction that demigods couldn't kill him. The king of elephants started stomping many demons on the way. The elephant was mad with anger. The beast killed many demons. The bell tied to Airavata's neck starting ringing, producing echoes everywhere.

Kamsa, the mighty demon, punched Airavata very hard and with his second hand, punched Indra. Kamsa was too strong, even for a powerful personality like Indra.

By the force of the punch, Indra landed far away from Airavata and the elephant helplessly bowed down to his knees. But, the next moment, the heavy animal sprang up and with his tusk, hit Kamsa mercilessly. And the next second, the elephant used his trunk to bind the demon and threw him far away, taking revenge for his master. But, it couldn't harm Kamsa. He was too strong. And now, he got angrier. Biting his lips out of anger, he went into the battlefield again.

The poor elephant had to face Kamsa's wrath. Kamsa held and twisted the trunk and then punched so hard that the tusks of the beast were shattered. Airavat, out of fear, ran inside Amaravatipura, the capital of demigods. While the elephant ran, it killed many demons on its way, stomping on them with the heavy feet.

Kamsa took out the bow of Vishnu, which was given to him by Lord Parshuram. He set the string in the bow. The string vibrated vigorously, thus indicating the battle of Kamsa and demigods. Seeing the prowess of Kamsa, many of demigods starting running hither and tither. Many demigods surrendered and spoke:

"O Kamsa, we surrender to you. Please spare our lives, do not kill us."

Seeing the demigods surrender, Kamsa went into the palace of Amaravatipura and took the throne to his capital, Mathura.
