Seeing all of those baskets made Aspens heart race. He knew that she was on the island. In a way, no matter how much Aspen says that she's ignorant, selfish, or mean for stealing food. Really Aspen thought everything of her. He'd wonder if he'd ever be able to see her, If maybe he helped out at the fruit stall, maybe just maybe, he'd catch a glimpse of her.But that was silly talk.
Rolling away from the rocky beach and diving back into the sea Aspen started his way back home, hopefully he wouldn't get yelled at for going out unsupervised.
That was another rule that his mother made up, never go out, even in the day, unsupervised, whether it was by Bernice or herself didn't matter, as long as she knew where Aspen was and he was safe.
The boy sighed and climbed out of the water, his now fleshy fingers melting into the soft, lush grass. So green and bright even as the suns been replaced with the moon.
Aspen lied down on the grass, just staring off into space (literally) feeling....he didn't know how he was feeling. Calm? No his heart was still racing from being on the island. Relaxed? No defiantly not, he had too much energy. Yet he just wanted to lay and stare at the stars forever.
The inky abyss seemed to consume him, and soon enough it did, the last image that reflected off his eyes, was of the waxing crescent moon, tilted gently as though smiling down at him.

"Oh Aspen thank goodness!!!" His mother yelled, flinching at the noise but obediently sitting down at the table, the chair legs screeching way too loudly across the wooden floor.
Aspen had fallen asleep outside and Bernice had found him after going to check on him in the morning, only to find his bed empty. Bernice had shaken him awake and she brought him back to the house.
"What where you thinking?!"
Aspens eyes brimmed with tears, he hated it when his mother shouted. When anyone shouted really.
"I mean how could you possibly be more stupid?! And reckless!!! God Aspen! What where you even doing out there?"
Aspen looked up towards his mother.
Her auburn skin was tinted cherry with anger and frustration, her knuckles turned a snowy shade of white from how hard she'd been gripping the chair in-front of her.
Paige's usually curly, bouncy hair was rattled and frizzed with the amount of times she'd torn her hands through it. Her eyes looked dark and dangerous, this didn't looked like Paige. This wasn't her. It was her pent up anger, frustration, sadness, and hurt, so much hurt.As they continued to stare at each other her eyes seemed to soften. Bringing her had towards her forehead and pinching her fore brow.
"Just go to your room"
She waved him off as Aspen walked quickly but quietly as he could up the stairs and to the second door on the right.Sitting on his bed and dragging his hands though his hair, aspen blinked back the tears that were rolling down his face, making lines of lapis and admiral.
He didn't know what to do, his mother was mad at him, he couldn't figure out his emotions and now he's just upset everybody.
And what does a sea monster do when their unhappy?
They do the thing that got Aspen into this trouble in the first place.
They go for a swim.

The water felt cold and cooling, beating the warm summer sun any day. Aspen shivered as he felt the change quickly wash over him, his auburn skin transforming itself into lapis scales, shades of cobalt and Azul colouring different parts of his body. His hair dipped with scarlet.
