Two individuals pushed through the crowds of people, one trying not to be impatient and start shoving people, one trying not to get drowned under the sea of humans. Each slowly finding their way, illuminated by thousands of small lights. Camera's clicked and flashed, blinding people unfortunately looking in the direction. Chatter flooded the air enough to be hardly heard, and young children pierced the air with screams of games and sweets. But through all the commotion, every shout and scream and word was muffled, meaning nothing as the lights dimmed and pupils dilated as they caught sight of the other.  Hazel and carob, walnut and caramel, hickory and wood. Mixing together in a swirl of syrup. The soils seemed to amalgamate perfectly, growing an amazing vivid green stem, and sprouting a stupendous flower. One of every colour.

"Hey" Aspens eyes fell on the ground, uncomfortable with the prolonged eye contact.                "Oh, hey" Toni's stayed glued to where they were, taking in every aspect of the small boy. His smart attire almost made her chuckle, compared to what his usual outfit was, then her eyes fell towards the bright red converse peaking out the bottom of his trousers. Despite trying her hardest she couldn't stop the small puff of air from the previous laugh escaping. Aspen looked up to see Toni smiling brightly, clearly holding back.

"You look really nice! especially you're shoes" she laughed. Aspen was thankful for the darkness, so Toni didn't notice the warmth spreading over his face.

"You never wear shoes" He grumbled, hoping secretly that Toni didn't think of it as something other than a joke.

"Unfortunately some of us aren't as privileged to have a layer of plastic against our feet" Aspen smiled at her snarky comment and looked up, and breathed out slowly. Toni was beautiful, her normally wild hair was tamed and brushed, shifted neatly to the side of her head. Fingers concealed with navy blue gloves, the same fabric draped down towards her socks, which no surprise, were rainbow.

"Nice socks"

"Thankyou!"

Aspen rolled his eyes, she knew what he was trying to do, and blatantly ignoring them.

"come-on, do you want to go and get something to eat and escape all this madness" The small red head nodded and followed Toni through the crowd as best as he could before giving up and gripping her hand. Toni instantly froze, yet her feet carried on walking without a second thought. she could see the massive difference between their height, but with his fingers in hers it was too obvious, and Toni sucked in a breath. She realized, he was so small, delicate, tiny. In fact he was the complete opposite to what the indigenous male species looked like, he looked like a female. Toni didn't know much about the humans and gender, He, She, Male, Female. What was the difference? Toni didn't know, she just saw as humans and humans and sea monsters as sea monsters. Ridiculous to think otherwise.

"Toni? are you there?" She snapped back into reality, the crowds and lights quickly coming back into focus.

"hmm?"

"The cinnamon rolls?"

"What about cinnamon rolls?"

A small chuckle left his mouth "Can we get some?"

Toni followed his gaze towards a brightly lit stall, an aromas smell was wafting from it, it was sweet and sickly, perfect for their first date. Wait date?

"Yeah! sure lets go!" Toni drowned the thoughts as a funny feeling washed around her stomach.

Aspen and Toni joined the short que. Aspen pulled out his wallet and began looking at the prices, whilst Toni found a way round the back of the stall. She nudged aspen and pointed to the opening, he looked up at her with a confused face. Toni rolled her eyes and dragged him away from the chaos. The cobble was rough to kneel on so Aspen found himself sitting on his feet.
